Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Full Collection

In the last few weeks of 2015, you may have seen the new Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani eyeshadow palette floating around the beauty world. Well, to make things even more exciting, Urban Decay is about to launch the full makeup collection from their collaboration with Gwen Stefani.

Designed and developed by Gwen Stefani herself, this collection is already getting a lot of attention…

Considering Gwen Stefani had teamed up with Urban Decay for their Ultraviolet Edge initiative before, and how much of an iconic style she has, it makes sense these two giants have come together to create this collection.

Gwen Stefani has a classic style with an edge which can be hard to balance yet she always makes it look so effortless. Having complete control over the design and development of all the colors and styles, she’s created a collection with great variety of neutrals and a hint of color.

Released ahead of the rest of the collection, this 15-color eyeshadow palette features a lot of soft matte and shimmer neutrals. There’s been quite a lot of hype about the amazing quality of these shadows so if you’re after a neutral palette with a pop of color where you can play up the intensity of your looks, this would be a great option.

Next in line of the most talked about product from this collection is the blush palette. Based around Gwen’s love of glowing cheeks, this palette features 6 (mainly shimmer) colors. Darker skin tones may benefit from using these shades as highlighters, however I find the palette is geared more towards light to medium skin tones.

With 8 vibrant shades of lipstick, this range is definitely more than just a capsule collection. Gwen’s signature red lips have definitely carried into this line as there are quite a few different red/berry shades with different undertones. Two of these shades are exclusive to the Urban Decay website so I linked the shop option above to the UD website.

Of course no collection of lipsticks would be complete without a range of lipliners so there are 6 carefully selected pencils to compliment all the lipstick colors. Created with Urban Decay’s 24/7 long wearing formula, these liners provide smooth application with budge-proof color.

Last member of this collection is a double tier brow box which features two shades of brow powder and wax; as well as a the bottom tier which cases two brow defining mini brushes and a pair of mini tweezers. The brow powder colors are marketed as ‘dark and light blond’.

Overall, this is a pretty extensive collection of products. The eyeshadow palette and the lip products are probably more versatile in terms of their appeal to different skin tones. I can understand with Gwen Stefani designing this collection around her own favorites and seeing as she has fair to medium skin tone, it’s not surprising that some colors are limiting.

As for the brow box; I think Urban Decay could do with a versatile brow palette such as this in their permanent line but I’m not sure that it was necessary for such a collection – especially that again, the color of the brow powder duo is quite limited. Considering Gwen Stefani is also known for her sharp black winged liner, I think a liquid or gel liner with a rich black formula may have made more sense?
