Sometimes a company will come up with an idea so simple yet so genius, I can’t get my hands on it fast enough. That’s exactly what happened when I saw Tarte Cosmetics Tarteist Clay Paint Liner in its innovative squeeze tube. And I got to working in bringing out my inner “Tarteist”, putting it to the test…
*it started off as a simple line but I couldn’t stop :))
If you like gel liners, you’d know one of the most frustrating things about them is how fast they dry up because of the traditional pots they come in. No matter how careful you are with keeping the lid tight and storing them away from direct sunlight, they dry right up. So you end up paying full price for a pot of liner and end up throwing most of it away.
This is why I find the new Tarteist liner to be a genius innovation cos it comes in a squeezable tube, so no more dried up liner or wasting product!

Tarteist liner pack includes: 6g/0.21oz tube of the clay liner, as well as a “bent-tip” eyeliner brush for easy application
Containing Tarte’s famous Amazonian clay, vitamin E, mineral pigments and botanical waterproofing agent, this rich creamy black liner glides on easily and dries up to a budge proof finish.
Another feature of this clever squeeze tube is a flat dish looking applicator tip where you can custom blend the eyeliner without getting the back of your hand messy.
The eyeliner formula itself is not the blackest liner I’ve used, but it’s definitely buildable. I went over the line twice to achieve the opaqueness in the picture above but I personally prefer the option of building up the product (rather than an intense look at the first application). It gives me the flexibility to alter the finish depending on whether I’m doing a subtle day or an intense night look.
The texture is quite creamy and glides on easily. It dries to a rich black matte finish and can also be used as a base for eyeshadows and glitter. It stays on without budging and flaking and I also like that it’s waterproof.
The brush is comfortable to hold and it’s perfect for simple lines along the lashes or a cat eye, but it wasn’t enough for the type of intricate and precise lines I did in the above picture. I managed for the sake of testing the brush but I did feel like reaching out for my Sigma precision eyeliner brush as I know it would have taken me half the amount of time to achieve the same look.
Nevertheless, again, it’s perfectly fine for what we usually need and I appreciate that Tarte has included the brush in the pack.
In summary, I really love the concept of this clay liner with its no-drying, no-mess, travel friendly tube packaging and given the finish and longevity of the product and Tarte Cosmetics being a cruelty-free brand, it ticks enough boxes for me to enjoy this liner as a new favorite :)
