New Makeup Products 2014

by Sarah

New year, new makeup! and there are some exciting releases worth checking out. Some are already available to purchase and others will be making their debut at IMATS (International Makeup Artists Trade Show) which will take place between January 17-19 in LA.

Although many brands are releasing seasonal limited edition collections, the list below only features new products which will be part of the permanent lines.

Being such a fan of nude lipsticks, I’m super excited about the release of this 9 piece The Buffs collection from Maybelline. It’s from their Color Sensational line, which had a huge success with their previous releases such as the Color Vivids. If you’ve had any of the Color Sensational lipsticks, the formula for the Buffs collection is exactly the same – creamy with just enough sheen and good color payoff. With such an amazing array of nudes, you’ll be sure to find your perfect shade. The Buffs collection is available at drugstores.

When MAC releases their version of a naked palette – not 1 but 2 at that, we must stop and take notice. Featuring some of their cult favorites, the palettes contain 15 eyeshadows each and as the names suggest, they’re divided up into warm and cool tones. There’s a great balance of matte/shimmer shades so these palettes are definitely all you’ll need to create endless looks.

The palettes are priced at $100 each and now available to purchase here

The makers of the amazing Beauty Blender Sponge have expanded their line to makeup brushes so now you can apply a flawless base with your sponge and create equally flawless eye/face makeup looks with the brushes. The brushes have synthetic bristles and shorter handles than the traditional makeup brushes, making it easier to control the application and also practical for travelling. The set features 6 brushes including a domed powder/blush brush; four eye brushes including a unique angled liner brush and also a spoolie for the brows.

The set will be officially released at IMATS in LA (January 17-19), however the Beauty Blender site already has a great package deal which you can purchase now. The pack comes with the 6-piece Detailer brush set, an original beauty blender sponge, a solid blender cleanser, a beauty bangle and a mesh pouch to store all these goodies in. It’s priced at $129.95 here

Renowned for their super pigmented lip products the Lip Tars, followed by amazing eyeshadow pigments, OCC are ready to launch their new pencil line – Cosmetic Color Pencils. Available in 12 gorgeous shades, these pencils can double up for eye, lip and brow makeup. OCC’s motto of being 100% vegan and cruelty free translates into these pencils without compromising the color and quality as always.

OCC Cosmetic Color Pencils will be launched at IMATS January 17-19 so make sure you stop by the OCC booth if you’re attending.

I’ve never liked retractable makeup brushes, prominently cos they’re always made from cheap bristles, have a very classic look and they fall apart on you after couple of uses. But I do love Real Techniques brushes so I can already vouch for these being great quality.

The new released pieces include a retractable bronzer brush which has a flat top so it can also double up to apply foundation; a retractable kabuki brush which is slanted on top and can be used for blush, highlighter and contouring; a retractable lip brush and a silicone eye liner brush.

Real Techniques brushes are available at Ulta and Target in the US and you can check for stockists in your country via the Real Techniques website

Now, I know this is not the newest release of all the products I mentioned but considering the hype that’s still surrounding it, Urban Decay’s Naked 3 palette had to make it to the list. Following the success of the original Naked and Naked 2 palettes, I must admit it was a smart move on Urban Decay’s behalf to choose the blushing pink shades for the latest set. I think most people were disappointed that the colors in Naked 2 wasn’t that much different than the original Naked palette. It was the tin packaging which made the Naked 2 more appealing. Naked 3 however, with soft rose golds, pinks, blush and warm bronze tones is in a league of its own.

You can get the Naked 3 palette here OR here for worldwide delivery (free shipping)

What are some of the new release makeup products you’d like to get your hands on? xx
