Sometimes I say to myself: surely you don’t need another eyeshadow palette?? And though I know the answer, a new release comes along and I know at first glance that I need it…afterall.

The second I saw the PR material for Anastasia’s new Nouveau Eyeshadow Palette, I knew it was gonna be special.

I’ll even go as far to say: this is Anastasia’s come-back palette; right up there with their Modern Renaissance…

Anastasia Nouveau Eyeshadow Palette

I have to admit, I haven’t been interested in any Anastasia products for quite some time now. Although I appreciate the fun, mystical, colorful path Norvina took the brand down on, it wasn’t what I was personally interested in. But I also thought majority would feel the same.

I think it’s great when brands do unique launches now and again, but when it becomes a new direction altogether – especially when there’s a clear pattern of what worked for them previously, it runs the risk of killing the brand.

So you can imagine my excitement when the new Nouveau Eyeshadow Palette appeared. In fact I said to my sister: ABH is back!

Without further ado, lets get to analysing this stunning palette…

PACKAGING

The soft sage green color with gold accents, coupled with the woven, almost knit-fabric texture of the cover is enough to put it on display and stare at it on the daily.

Unlike Anastasia’s previous palettes, where the compact was much thicker, pans much smaller and an eyeshadow brush included, this new style is slim, sleek, the pan sizes are much bigger and no brush included.

I actually prefer this format because it looks more chic and luxurious. And I think most of us have our favorite eyeshadow brushes, that we can do without one being included in this palette.

COLORS & TEXTURES

Oh where do I even begin explaining the genius of the color family that was created with this palette! Yes even that pastel lavender/lilac.

There are 12 pans in the palette, ranging from a mix of mattes, shimmers and more intense metallics – including a duo-chrome (Peacock).

With 3 green tones and an old gold shimmer (green/bronze undertone), at first glance this palette may seem like a green-heavy color family.

However there are so many beautiful warm neutrals, soft shimmers, as well as rich deep tones that it’s actually more versatile than it looks.

The formula of the eyeshadows feel velvety smooth and almost creamy to the touch. The quality is definitely there – in fact, maybe better than their previous eyeshadow formulas.

Shimmers can be intensified even more by applying with a wet brush, but a single finger-swipe delivers plenty of pay-off that it probably won’t even be needed.

ALL THE LOOKS

There are countless looks that can be created with this palette, from everyday neutrals to shimmering summer vibes, muted greens as a substitute of earthy browns, intense smoky eyes for a glam vibe and of course a fun pop of color with the pastel lilac.

Here are some ideas to make the most of this palette…

The shimmers such as Isle, Belle and Lili can be swept all across the lids with plenty of mascara for a doll-eyed look; or they can also be used as toppers over other shades

The greens such as Wings (which is my favorite color), Hope and Liberty can be smudged as eyeliners across the top and bottom lash lines.
This is a great way to introduce such colors to your looks, as well as adding some movement

The all matte combo of Paloma, Fleur and Metro can instantly add a soft-glam look to the eyes. Paired with a peachy blush and similar tone lipstick would create a chic monochromatic look

The deepest shades in the palette, Peacock which is a duo-chrome and Muse, the shimmering dark chocolate would make for an incredible smoky eye with just a couple of swipes. These can also be used on the outer corners of the eyes with more muted shades in the palette to add depth and create a classic style

And of course Wisteria, that beautiful soft lilac can be applied on the inner corners of the eyes with a good coat of mascara to complete a fun look that probably took less than 2mins.

And here we are! A stunning all-round palette from Anastasia which blends a creative combination of colors, as well as bringing life back to the brand.
