BeautyMakeup Tutorials Tarte Rainforest After Dark Tutorial May 13, 2015 Hi beauties! After my feature of Tarte’s limited edition Rainforest After Dark Palette – review here, I had a few request to do a tutorial with it. I went couple of steps further and created three versatile looks: Everyday, Classic and Glam to show you how convenient this palette is. I used 4 shadows starting from the bottom right side: Don’t Turn A Brown, Tang-led Up In You, Up To No Gold, Plum Away With Me Classic, Glam and Everyday eye looks created using Tarte Rainforest After Dark Palette I only used this palette, including eyeliner! I applied the dark brown eyeshadow with a wet brush to create a smooth liquid liner and it worked perfectly! The only additional product was my favorite black mascara: Lancome Hypnose Drama – review here And of course I haven’t been able to put down the BlendIT Beauty makeup brushes since I got them so I used three key brushes from this brand – full review here EVERYDAY LOOK This is such an easy yet effective style for everyday looks. Just a quick sweep of a neutral eyeshadow all over the eyelid (building it up a little extra on the outer crease), dark brown or black eyeshadow smudged along the top and bottom lash line, finished off with a good coat of mascara. You can pair up any lip color and you’re good to go. Using BlendIT Beauty flat shader brush, press down Tang-led Up In You from the palette all over the mobile lid; blend and build the color for more intensity on the outer crease with the fluffy blend brush. With the angle brush, smudge the dark brown shade (Don’t Turn A Brown) along the top and bottom lash lines. Curl your lashes and apply your favorite mascara. Optional: false lashes. CLASSIC LOOK If you love contrasting colors but don’t want to go as intense as a smokey eye, this is a classic look to add just enough drama to your eyes. This plum/brown shade from the palette is a stunning color! but you can most certainly use other shades for softer looks. You can go as light or heavy as you like with this. Apply Tang-led Up In You all over the mobile lid with the flat shader brush. Blend with the fluffy blend brush. Starting from the outer corner of the eye, blend Plum Away With Me, again using the fluffy blend brush. Once you achieve the desired intensity, apply this shade along the lower lash line too. Using the angle brush, spray either water or MAC Fix+ on the bristles and dip into Don’t Turn A Brown til the shadow becomes liquid liner consistency. Apply this on along the upper lash line as thick or thin as you prefer. Dry the brush on a piece of tissue and apply the same dark brown shadow along the lower lash line to blend with the plum shade. Curl lashes and apply your favorite mascara. Optional: false lashes. GLAM LOOK Considering the color family of this palette (and if only using this palette like I did), this is probably as glam as you can get with the featured shades. Plum, brown and gold are a match made in heaven and they certainly translated so much nicer in person than I could capture with the camera. Repeat the same steps as the Classic look above. Once you complete all the steps to the classic look, with the fluffy blend brush, start building Don’t Turn A Brown on the outer corners of the eyes. This will help add more depth and contrast. Bring this color down to the lower lash line also. Spray the flat shader brush with water or MAC Fix+ and dip into the Up To No Gold shade until you create a smooth paste. This makes the color and the shimmer pop. Apply this to the inner third of the mobile lid. Blend the edges with the fluffy blend brush to make sure all the colors merge seamlessly. Using the angle brush wet, go over the top lash line with Don’t Turn A Brown – also apply it to the water line for added drama. Apply your favorite black mascara. Optional: false lashes. Taking into account, there are two other eyeshadows within this palette that I haven’t even used, a highlighter, bronzer and a blush which can also double up as eyeshadows if need be, you can get really creative and achieve countless looks with this palette. Travel friendly, convenient and great quality, at $38 and being limited edition, I would again highly recommend this palette before it sells out.
