Stila Aqua Glow Watercolor Blush

by Sarah

Couple of months ago, I did a review on the YSL Baby Doll Kiss & Blush (here), and I talked about wanting a liquid blush with a light consistency which provided sheer yet buildable coverage. At the time, theΒ YSL blush was the closest I could get to it. Though I love that blush, it still wasn’t what I had in mind in terms of texture.

Fast forward few weeks and Stila launchedΒ exactly what I was after! IntroducingΒ Stila Aqua Glow Watercolor Blush

There are 5 vibrant shades within the Aqua Glow Watercolor Blush collection which are released as part ofΒ Stila’s summer line along with cooling primer, bronzers and also liquid lipsticks.Β Being more drawn to warmer coral/peach undertones, I purchased the colors Shimmering Lotus and Water Lily.

The packaging of these blushes are gorgeous to say the least; and they’re different than traditional pot blushes which usuallyΒ have a thicker creamy texture. These pots are a new concept to us but in fact they’ve been around Korean beauty markets for quite some time.

The liquid blushΒ is stored in the glass jar which is enclosed with a fabric netting. This netting ensures the liquidΒ stays contained in the jar yet dispenses just the right amount of product. The lid itself has a stopper in the middle to preventΒ the product from flowing out and getting messy. There’s a sticker which which warns to shake the product well before use. Being water based, it makes sense soΒ the color component of the product is mixed through evenly.

The formula itself, as I mentioned in the beginning, is exactly what I’d been looking for. Cream blushes (which are the bulk of what’s available out there) being heavier in texture, can tend to move the product underneath or dry to a powdery/matte finish.Β I wanted something quite transparent so that I could dab it over clean skin or tinted moisturiser/foundation without losing that natural glowy effect. This watercolor formula ticks all the boxes:Β It’s light, watery, sheer yet buildable and sets almost like a tint. I also like that I can control color intensity.

If you’re after a light fuss-free blush which will add as much color as you want and still give you a dewy glowing finish without the patchy sticky feel, this formula is hands down a winner.

Shimmering Lotus: soft peach with gold shimmer / Water Lily: rose pink/coral no shimmer

Another plusΒ is just how little product is needed to achieve great coverage and color payoff. The heavier application of the products in the above picture is literally me dipping the tip of my finger into whatever was already present on the lid. I used quarter of that amount to blend the color out next to it. I have a feeling these pots will last me a very very long time.

Stila Aqua Glow Watercolor BlushΒ is 0.2fl oz, retails at $26 and comes in 5 different shades…
