Spring In My Step

by Sarah

New fashion set!!! It’s so nice to finally see spring/summer fashion trickling in on websites and social media. There’s a lot of different trends this season including soft pastels to bright colors and the usual in-betweens like denim and tan.

Today’s set is somewhat safe – still keeping a feel of the previous seasons, yet singing the tunes of the warmer months with some key pieces  featuring color.

The safe pieces here are the boyfriend jeans and the black sleeveless top. Although I’ve selected a blouse-style top with soft layers and movement to the fabric, a pair of jeans with a flattering top will always make for a great foundation to style an outfit around.

Where I wanted to add some color and excitement to this ensemble were the accessories. The heels may be a little too much for some and by all means they can easily be replaced with flats or sandals, I just loved the intricate colorful detailing on them. Choosing a key color from the shoe (in this case orange) to pair with the same color handbag really ties in the whole look together.

*I did a post on how to mix and match colors when putting together an outfit here, if you’d like to learn more.

As well as looking modern and effortless, this kind of combination is easy and flexible to suit many occasions. So, if you’re still in the process of transitioning into the new season, try to keep your clothing pieces simple and experiment with colorful accessories. This is also a great way to test and see if the latest trends or colors that you’ve never tried before could become your new favorite.

Do you follow seasonal trends? What are some of your spring/summer essentials? xx
