Sparkle Eye Makeup

by Sarah

Hi beauties! Hope you had a good Christmas and getting ready to welcome in the new year. And of course with so many parties to attend,ย a bit (or a lot) of sparkle never hurts :)

You may remember a post I did on the amazing Girlactik products HERE and I mentioned I’d do a tutorial using their Sparkle Eyeliner Set in Gunmetal. Well, here it is they are! I created 3 looks for you so whether you’d like a simple sparkly line or go all out with dramatic eyes, I’m hoping you’ll find inspiration in theseย looks to create your own version.

*top right and bottom left are the same look –ย I used it to complete the square for social media posts :)

Girlactik Sparkle Eyeliner Set is a 2-step process. There’s a black base which is a cream/gel liner consistency (I used this as a base and as eyeliner for the top lash line in all the looks). And then there’s the sparkle color. The black base acts as a glue for the sparkle to go on top and it adheres perfectly without getting everywhere like traditional glitter would.

For the rest of the products, I stuck to the same itemsย for all 3 looks and used my trusty favorite Lorac Pro original eyeshadow palette. My practical side has to make an appearance to show that it’s possible to create different looks with a handful of products. Of course you can use any color or product of your choice and alter the looks to what you feel comfortable with.

LOOK 1 – SPARKLE BOTTOM LINER

This is a style that will take any type of look to that “party ready” mode with a single line. You don’t have to go as heavy as I did on the rest of the products. You can just do your personal favorite look and add the sparkle to yourย bottom lash line as an added touch.

Sparkle Eye Makeup

1.ย Prep the eyes using an eye primer. I used Urban Decay Eye Primer in Original

2. With a fluffy eyeshadow brush, apply Taupe (or any soft warm brown shadow you have) all over the crease.

3. With the same fluffy eyeshadow brush, apply Espresso (or any deep dark brown shadow you have) on the eyelid blending the color into Taupe until both colors mergeย together.

4. Using an eyeliner brush, line the top lash line with Girlactik black base creating a small (straight) flick on the outer corner.

5. Ligthly smudge this line out with a pencil brush and the Black eyeshadow so it creates a softer transition towards the flick.

6. Using Urban Decay Zero pencil, line the waterline as well as tight line (inner rim of upper lash line). Smudge the bottom line well into the lashes with the pencil brush, joining the outer edge with the little flick you created earlier.

7. Using the eyeliner brush again, draw a line as thin or thick as you like on the bottom lash line with the Girlactik black base. Follow with dabbing on the Girlactik sparkle with the sponge tip applicator provided in the kit. *the sponge applicator worked really well.

8. Apply a coat of black mascaraย and add a pair of false lashes of your choice. I stacked 2 pairs together : Ardell demi wispies and Ms Adoro DWs

LOOK 2: SPARKLE CAT EYE

OK you guys remember the post-it-trick right ;) That’s what we’re using in this look to create that intense sharp line and once you place your post it notes where you need them, it’s as simple as coloring in the blanks with black base and sparkle.

Sparkle Cat Eye Tutorial

1.ย Prep the eyes using an eye primer. I used Urban Decay Eye Primer in Original

2. Stick a post it note from the outer edge of your bottom lash line in the direction you prefer. I aimed mine to the end of my brows.

3. With a fluffy eyeshadowย brush, apply Lorac Pro Taupe (or any other crease color you like) from the edge of the post it note towards the middle of your eye. This is all about the liner so I kept the eyelids quite clean with only a hint of dimension with a soft eyeshadow color.

4. With an eyeliner brush, draw a straight line from the edge of the post it note towards the inner corner of your eye. The closer you go to the end of the post it note, the thicker your line will be. I went quite thick with mine and it looked really good but you can make the line and the flick any size you feel comfortable with.ย

5. With the sponge tip applicator, dabย the Girlactik Gunmetal sparkle over the black line you created. The sparkle will adhere to the black baseย so you don’t have to worry about messing up your line. Peel off the post it note to reveal your perfect line.

6. Using an eyeliner brush, apply a thin line of Girlactik black base along the top lash line, stopping at a sharp point at the outer corner.

6.ย Using Urban Decay Zero pencil, line the waterline as well as tight line (inner rim of upper lash line). Smudge the bottom line well into the lashes with aย pencil brush. Join this black line with the sparkle line so it looks like a sharp V at the outer corner as per the picture.

7. With a pencil brush, apply Espresso eyeshadow along the bottom lash line. Repeat the same process with the Black eyeshadow closer to the lashes to give the line a smudged gradient effect.

8.ย Apply a coat of black mascara and add a pair of false lashes of your choice. I stacked 2 pairs together : Ardell demi wispies and Ms Adoro DWs

LOOK 3 – SPARKLE SMOKEY EYE

This is the most time consuming out of all the looks. It’s not difficult, it just takes a lot of blending and hence patience. Again, you don’t have to go as heavy as I did on the application. The photography lights I use really wash out the colors sometimes so I have to apply more product than usual so the colors can show up true to when in person.

Sparkle Smokey Eye

1.ย Prep the eyes using an eye primer. I used Urban Decay Eye Primer in Original

2. Withย a fluffy eye shadow brush, apply the color Taupe all over the eyelid, just past the crease. I wanted a rounder look on the outer corner but you can do a sharp line using the post it note again if you like.

3. With the same brush, apply the color Espresso all over the eyelid, stopping just before the crease. Blend Taupe and Espresso together to achieve a soft transition. Continue to repeat the step with Espresso until you achieve your preferred intensity.

4. Using your finger, dab Girlactic black base all over the mobile lid. Blend the edges into the Espresso color with the fluffy brush so it’s diffused.

5. With the sponge tip applicator, dab Girlactik Gunmetal sparkle over the black base. You can do a soft scatter all over or build it up for maximum shine.

6.ย Using Urban Decay Zero pencil, line the waterline as well as tight line (inner rim of upper lash line). Smudge the bottom line well into the lashes with a pencil brush.

7. Apply Espresso eyeshadow along the bottom lash line. Blend this line really wellย so it adds a hint of warmth to tie in with the eyelids. Go over this line with black eyeshadow, again diffusing it until you get a soft gradient.

8.ย Apply a coat of black mascara and add a pair of false lashes of your choice. I stacked 2 pairs together : Ardell demi wispies and Ms Adoro DWs

And here we are! One key product which can be transformed into completely different looks.ย I would personally pair the 1st and 3rd looks with a nude lip. Girlactik’s nude lip combo I wrote about in the previous review HERE is a great option. And 2nd look would be beautiful with bold lips of your choice or neutral pink tones.

Whatever the look, I hope these creations inspire you to get out there and rock that sparkle. If you do re-create any of the 3ย looks though, please tag me on social media as I’d love to see themย ;) *links to all social media are on the top right corner
