Some brands are quiet achievers. Physicians Formula is a great example of this. They have a great range of products at affordable prices and with their revamped packaging and different series of makeup lines, their fan base is growing at a rapid rate.
The blushes I’m featuring today have been around for some time. In fact I looked at them on so many occasions but my love for peachy/bronze blushes always held me back from cheating on them with a pink counterpart. It’s only recently that I had a “I want rosy flushed cheeks…now!” moment that took me back to the Physicians Formula’s Happy Booster stand. Seeing these compacts staring back at me, I was sold at the very first glance. I mean look how adorable they are…
Initially I picked up the Natural color and after using it for a few days, I was so impressed that I went back and got the Rose shade. The compact comes with a lift-up compartment underneath where there’s a mirror as well as a flat mini brush.
Physicians Formula Happy Booster range of products claim they are ‘Glow & Mood Boosting’. In their own words, this is what the package reads: “Infused with our Happy Boost Blend, featuring Happy Skin and Euphoryl, natural plant extracts which have been shown to promote a feeling of happiness by mimicking the effect of Endorphins and helping protect the skin against environmental stress. The sweet scent of Violet provides a feeling of joy each time you apply it”
Ummmm…OK…the packaging and the look of the product is definitely adorable and it does leave a nice glow on the skin, but the formula itself inducing happiness?? maybe I need to douse my whole body in it to experience that. I have to be honest, I didn’t notice much difference in my mood :)
As for the colors and the formula – the powder is quite silky and the different shades blend together seamlessly. Although there’s a slight violet fragrance – as the package reads; it’s not strong enough to be bothersome.
Natural: This turned out much lighter than I anticipated. I find I really have to build the color to get that rosy pink hue. The swatch in the picture is about 3 layers. So if you’re an NC30 shade like me or darker; this will probably serve better as a highlighter/soft glow than blush. It does look beautiful over the Rose shade or a bronzer to give the cheeks more dimension.
Rose: This shade on the other hand has great color payoff, especially if you swirl your brush over the darker pink hearts. It’s easily buildable and the lighter hues give off a subtle glow to the skin.
The Brush: I only attempted to use it once but I wasn’t too crazy about it. It’s too skinny to use as a blush brush; however you can keep these brushes and utilise them as a contouring brush for under the cheekbones or on the sides of your nose for a controlled application.
Physicians Formula Happy Booster line of products are also available in the form of powders and bronzers too. In fact, if pink is not your color, there’s a great bronze shade which will give you that peachy golden hue. They are available at drugstores starting from $11.00 depending on the stores and sales they have.
**For my beauties particularly in Australia and Canada (as well as international), I know makeup is crazy expensive and even drugstore brands can be at department store prices for you. You can purchase Physicians Formula products including the Happy Booster range from this US site HERE. They do offer international shipping so please check that your country is on the list ;)
