Aaaaahhhh…it’s time for the Oscars again and amongst the hits and misses of some of the most elaborate gowns and makeup to boot, I thought I’d dedicate today’s set to the Oscars. I’ve also included a chart designed by MediaRun showcasing the history of gowns worn to the Oscars by the winner of each year since 1929. How cool is that!
For today’s set, I featured this stunning gown by Rubin Singer. Coming from a family of designers, Rubin worked for Oscar de la Renta before starting his own line in 2007. He also created many designs for celebrities including Beyonce’s costume for that unforgettable Super Bowl half time performance.
The reason I chose the gown below, other than the amazing style, is the clever use of different textures. When we think “gown”, we usually imagine flowing fabrics and shimmers and corsets. This gown has the flowing ethereal look, yet there’s that contrasting piece of leather which really takes this gown to another level. I wanted the gown to speak for itself and therefore only included a pair of heels and a clutch to complete the look.
If you have any questions regarding the pieces in this set, please leave a message in the comments section below ;) xx
