Beauty Metallic Lips June 28, 2016 It’s a lipstick but it’s liquid, it’s matte but it’s metallic…and it’s on everyone’s lips (some pun intended) :) I’m talking about the latest “in” trend: the metallic liquid matte lipsticks. With plenty of options to choose from and judging by the hype surrounding them, the metallic matte lipsticks will be around for a while yet… Metallic Lips Not to be mistaken with the 80s frosty pink lipsticks, the new metallic lipsticks are combining different textures and colors which makes them quite unique. Usually when we think sparkle or metallic lip products, they’re either creamy or glossy. I think having such an eye catching lipstick which dries down to a matte finish is pretty interesting. COLOURPOP ULTRA MATTE METALLIC LIPSTICKS I thought I’d start with Colourpop, which is the latest brand to launch their line of metallic matte liquid lipsticks. Their first round was sold out within hours and they’re launching another batch today so keep an eye on their site HERE Currently there are four shades in this range and although Colourpop are saying there’s only limited quantities, I have a feeling they might expand on this collection soon. These lipsticks are $6 each, which is a great way to test out if metallic lips are your thing without breaking the budget. Colourpop Ultra Matte Metallic Lipsticks KYLIE COSMETICS METAL MATTE LIPSTICK As with many things that become a hit as soon as it’s mentioned by the Kardashian/Jenner clan, the interest in such metallic lip products soared even more after Kylie launched her own metal matte lipsticks. There are three permanent colors in this line with a black metallic called Ky Majesty added to the mix. I think she’ll be bringing back Ky Majesty along with a silver color soon. Metal matte lipsticks retail at $18 each. Kylie lipsticks sell out as soon as they launch so it can be a bit tricky to get a hold of these. Keep an eye on the Kylie Cosmetics website; or follow @kyliecosmetics on Instagram for updates. *I received my very first Kylie matte liquid lipstick today. I’ll put it to the test and do a review soon “depending on its performance”. Their stunning color Black Metal Dahlia (as pictured below) is still one of their most talked about shade. OCC’s range of lip tars are renowned for their opacity and smooth application. I did a detailed post on Lip Tars along with swatches of my favorite OCC nudes here if you’d like more information. OCC Lip Tars retail at $16 and can be purchased HERE Left picture: Black Metal Dahlia, Artifact, Kelly, Synth and Hollywood Black Metal Dahlia, Artifact, Kelly, Synth, Hollywood and Technopagan MILANI AMORE METALLIC LIP CREMES Another budget friendly option for metallic matte lipsticks is by Milani. Featuring 8 limited edition shades and priced at $8.99, these lipsticks pack a serious metallic punch. They have brighter colors to choose from so you can add them to your summer collection. Milani is available at drugstores such as Walgreens and CVS. You can also purchase these lipsticks on the Milani website Milani Amore Metallic Lip Cremes If you’re interested in metallic lipsticks but you’re not too keen to spend money just for the sake of trial, you can always use your existing matte lipsticks and dab your favorite eyeshadow pigment or highlighter over it to get a feel of the look. This not only gives you the flexibility of custom creating your favorite metallic lip but makes for a fun experiment too :) Let me know what you think of metallic matte lips. Any favorites so far? That black metal dahlia is gorgeous! Reply Sarah June 29, 2016 at 2:41 pm Hi Jackie, some of the colors are part of their Spring/Summer 2016 collection. The link I left in this post has the full collection available. Black Metal Dahlia really is beautiful. Reply Tiana June 29, 2016 at 10:10 am I have two of the original kylie lip kits and I really like them. I’m not crazy about metallic lips but that light color she has on in the picture is reallt pretty. I’m thinking now lol Reply Sarah June 29, 2016 at 2:43 pm I haven’t had a chance to wear my lip kit yet but I’m excited to try it :) The lightest metallic color Heir is probably the most subtle and can even be worn over other lipsticks to add a touch of sparkle. Reply Catrina June 29, 2016 at 8:37 am Hi Sarah! I saw the Colourpop ones online but didn’t know when they were coming back. I read your post and went on their website and managed to get Zebra and 3Way cos the other 2 were already sold out again. Thank you for the heads up!! Reply Sarah June 29, 2016 at 2:44 pm Hi Catrina, I’m glad to hear you got a couple of them at least. Apparently the second release sold out in under 10 minutes too. On a brighter note, they will be restocking again so keep an eye on the site or Colourpop social media ;) Reply MelissaD June 28, 2016 at 8:00 pm I love the way it looks in the pictures but I don’t know if I can pull it off :( Great tip about applying some pigment over lipsticks tho. I might start with that first. Thanks sarah :) Reply Sarah June 29, 2016 at 2:45 pm Definitely a good way to try before you buy ;) Reply Leave a Comment Cancel Reply Notify me when new comments are added.
