MAC has recently launched a single lipstick from their collaboration with Rihanna named RiRi Woo. This matte deep red lipstick was practically sold out within minutes of being released and a lot of people were disappointed they missed out. But fear not, as a bigger collection is now available to purchase online with another 2 shades of lipstick, a blush duo and also Lustre Drops – which is a liquid highlighter added to the mix.
And here’s a closer look at the products from this collection:
Hibiscus Kiss Blush Duo: This blush duo almost reminds me of NARS Laguna/Orgasm blush combo. The colors are pretty BUT, I wouldn’t necessarily consider it a must-have.
RiRi Woo Lipstick: This is the renowned lipstick everyone wanted and I can understand why, it’s a gorgeous universal shade of red – meaning it complements many different skin tones. However, from all the swatches I looked at, it is very similar to MAC’s permanent cult favorite lipstick called Ruby Woo. There’s a very slight tone difference but honestly, you’d have to have them side by side and look very closely to point the difference. If you already have Ruby Woo, this shade wouldn’t be too different or unique.
Heaux Lipstick: This is quite a versatile color. It’s a matte deep berry red which can be altered, either to be more red, or more pink-berry shade, depending on the lipliner or gloss you pair it up with. Good color payoff too.
RiRi Boy Lipstick: A combination of lavender and violet, this shade has more of a cooler undertone. If purple shades are your thing, worn with subtle eye makeup, it can definitely be a show stopper.
Barbados Girl Lustre Drops: Lustre Drops are available as part of MAC’s permanent line of products. They can either be worn as a highlighter over makeup or mixed into your foundation for a more dewy, luminous finish. This particular shade is a rose-gold shimmer. It would look beautiful over a good mid-tone bronzer to give you that flawless sun-kissed sheen.
Final Words: In my personal opinion, unless you’re specifically interested in limited edition collections; or Rihanna :) the RiRi Hearts Summer Collection does not feature any products that I would consider a “must-have” as such. Yes they’re good quality products, but there are alternatives from both MAC and also different brands which will give you similar, if not same color options ;)
Do you have any of the products from this collection? What are your thoughts on it? xx
