I wouldn’t blame you if you’re looking at the title of this post and then the picture thinking: MAC has released toothbrushes??
That was my initial reaction when I first saw the design of the new MAC Masterclass Brush Collection but now that they are released as part of the permanent MAC line, here’s an introduction:
Being a makeup artist, I do admit to wondering if traditional products can be improved to make makeup application easier with better results. Brushes fall into this category cos even though the technology of the bristles continue to evolve, not much has come about regarding the actual design…until now.
It seems MAC’s idea behind these three brushes is all about changing the angle of how the bristles apply to the face. Rather than the traditional brush, where the bristles point towards the face, these brush heads run parallel to the face. Although these brushes were first trialled backstage at runway shows with great success, I would still think they would be more benefitial for personal use, giving full control of the angle and pressure applied.
In MAC’s own words, here’s a run down of what each brush does:
#3 Oval Brush: The ultimate multipurpose tool, with an elongated oval shape and slightly pointed tip. Smoothly shades and blends powder or cream eye shadows, powder, and liquid or cream concealer in the hard-to-reach contours of the face. Synthetic fibres. Handle features special grip design and tilted brush tip for ultimate precision.
#6 Oval Brush: Ideal for blush, foundation or powder, the rounded, medium-sized brush applies, blends and contours all over the face or cheeks for even, flawless coverage. Synthetic fibres. Handle features special grip design and tilted brush tip for ultimate precision.
#1 Linear Brush: With a short, narrow shape, the brush delivers a firm, precise stroke to line lashes and lips. Also defines and fills brows. Synthetic fibres. Handle features special grip design and tilted brush tip for ultimate precision.
I don’t know that these brushes will ever replace the traditional makeup brushes, but they may very well be a valuable addition to existing sets, especially for personal use.
The Masterclass Brush collection is now available to purchase as part of MAC’s permanent line and judging by the fact that they’re already out of stock online, MAC may definitely be onto something here.
You can purchase the collection in-store or online here
What do you think of these brushes? Would you purchase them?
