Laura Mercier – Dark Spell Collection

July 4, 2013

Just as I was trying to take in MAC’s latest collections, out comes another one of my favorite brands with their new products: Laura Mercier Dark Spell Collection.  Laura Mercier has been a consistent brand when it comes to quality and innovation.  My personal collection started off with their renowned concealer pots and now anytime I need a good highlighter, powder or primer, I check Laura Mercier first.

This particular collection features some limited edition colors of formulations which already exist within the Laura Mercier line – such as the eye shadow and lipsticks.  Below is what’s been released within the Dark Spell Collection.

ROW 1: Baked Eye Color in Mystical; Magical: available in many other shades within the Laura Mercier line, these two colors are limited edition.  Baked eyeshadows can be used dry or wet and have a silky texture.

Satin Matte Eye Color in Dark Spirit: this formula is newly introduced within this collection and the only color available.  It’s described as highly pigmented with a creamy texture which is matte and long lasting.

ROW 2: Eye Canvas in EC-2: Eye primer designed to act as a base for eyeshadows, helping prevent creasing and provide an even coverage over the eye lids.  There are another 4 foundation-like colors within this line, with EC-2 added in with the Dark Spell Collection.

Kohl Eye Liner in Black: New product and only available in Black in typical kohl/kajal liner fashion.  It’s described as a creamy rich texture which provides intense color.

Caviar Stick Eye Color in Black: Available in a variety of shades; Smoke is the latest addition to this line of eye colors.  Easily blended over the eye lids, they’re long wearing and provide an even base.

Faux Lash Mascara in Black: Lengthening and volumising, the Faux Lash Mascara is also available in Sierra Brown.

ROW 3: Face Illuminator in Spellbound: I’m a devout fan of all Laura Mercier highlighter and blush products.  They always have the most amazing soft sheen and glide over the skin effortlessly.  This particular shade is a rose-gold so I’m sure it would look amazing over bronzers and soft peachy/coral blushes.

Creme Smooth Lip Color in Angelic; Merlot: This is also an existing formula within the Laura Mercier lipstick line, with these two amazing shades released as part of the Dark Spell Collection.  It’s described as rich color with a semi lustrous finish.

ROW 4: Lip Plumper in Charmed; Rose Flush: Plumping yet hydrating formula with a light, shiny texture.  Available in 5 other shades with Charmed and Rose Flush being new additions.

Nail Lacquer in Forbidden; Bewitched: The green shade of Bewitched looks quite interesting; not too sure about the formula as I never purchased a Laura Mercier nail polish before.  I’d love to hear about your thoughts if you have ;)

And that sums up the Dark Spell Collection.  I think out of the products released, I’m most curious about the Magical baked eyeshadow – the black lines against the creamy white color looks interesting.  And of course the Spellbound Illuminator, as I’m such a highlighter fan :)  For further details on any of the Laura Mercier products, please visit: www.lauramercier.com
