That Healthy Glow Part 4
Last but definitely not least of That Healthy Glow series is my absolute favorite…Illuminators & Highlighters!
Illuminators and highlighters are my secret weapon in achieving the ultimate healthy glow, even on a bad skin day. Whether you use them on their own to give your skin a boost, or incorporate them into your complete makeup looks, illuminators and highlighters are a key multi-purpose product for your makeup kit.
There are so many brands and varieties available but I’m a bit pedantic when it comes to achieving natural looks. It’s the ‘shine factor’ that makes such products natural vs “out there sparkly” and some people prefer a more intense look which is also fine. The reason I listed the following two brands as my favorites is the natural look they provide. They don’t have sparkles or glitter but rather a finely milled shimmer which melts into the skin.
Having someone do a double take and wonder if you’re naturally glowing or it’s some miracle product is the aim here ;)
BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector: As seen in the picture above, this range comes in a variety of shades so you get to choose whether you prefer warmer or cooler tones. Opal (as pictured in the swatch) is my favorite as it’s a beige-nude and blends with my MAC NC30-35 skin tone perfectly. These are light fluid consistency and can be used on their own, mixed into your foundation or applied over your foundation. Used on top of the cheekbones, browbones, bridge of the nose and forehead (basically wherever light would hit your features naturally), they make you glow like you eat the healthiest food, exercise everyday or blessed with such amazing genes! ;)
MAC Mineralize Skin Finish: There are so many different colors of this range of powders from MAC, it really comes down to your personal preference of what look you’re trying to achieve. These very finely milled powder formulations are usually made up of a swirl of complimenting shades which add to that 3D effect. My personal favorites are Shimpagne and Soft&Gentle…again, these are the closest to my NC30-35 skin tone featuring beige/nude shades. The shimmer is very subtle, although some shades have more profound swirls through them depending on the intensity of the color. Well worth a check at the MAC counter next time you’re out shopping ;)
