BeautyProduct Reviews Illamasqua Beyond Powder in Epic December 2, 2016 I did it again. Although I was on a no-buy with anything that even slightly resembled a highlighter, I succumbed to the shimmering sparkling powers of yet another compact. Once you see it though, I’m pretty sure you’ll understand my reasons. I’m referring to Illamasqua’s Beyond Powder. With its sleek packaging and smooth glistening pan, you can almost see the sun rays bursting out of the compact as soon as you open it. Illamasqua Beyond Powder in Epic Illamasqua Beyond Powder comes in two shades: OMG which is a champagne shimmer and Epic which is a warm bronze shimmer. I got the shade Epic as I have plenty of champagne colored highlighters – but stay til the end of the post for comparisons of Epic powder to some other brands I have which are similar. The powder comes in Illamasqua‘s signature compact shape with a black glossy finish and contains 7g/0.24oz of product. The compact is quite chunky. It looks and feels luxurious but it’s more of a “vanity display” rather than “throw in your purse” size. Illamasqua Beyond Powder in Epic I don’t own a lot of Illamasqua products. They’re a sturdy brand in the beauty industry but the fact that they’re not as readily available in stores makes it a bit hard to get familiar with their products. Nevertheless they have some cult favorite items and these Beyond Powders have been quite popular since their launch. The product itself is beautiful. The smooth flawless finish of the powder which looks like a satin pillow is definitely eye catching. The color is also super pretty. Although it’s described as warm bronze, it carries more peachy/rose gold undertones when applied. I must note: the texture is not as smooth and buttery as some other highlighters I own. I don’t know whether the top layer had a veil of binding ingredient to give it that smooth look but it took a few swipes to break into the product before I was able to get some color payoff in the initial swatches. After that, it blended beautifully. Illamsqua Beyond Powder in Epic Illamasqua Beyond Powder in Epic The color Epic is gorgeous as a shimmering blush/highlighter against my NC30-35 skin tone and it would look just as stunning on deeper skin tones as more of a warm highlighter. From the description and photos I’ve seen, I was hoping it would carry more golden/bronze undertones but I ordered it online and as soon as I swatched it, I knew it was similar to couple of other highlighters I had. So, here is a comparison picture of Illamasqua Epic to Anastasia Peach Nectar and Becca Rose Gold. Full review/swatch of Anastasia Peach Nectar here; and Becca Rose Gold here Anastasia Peach Nectar – Illamasqua Epic – Becca Rose Gold Anastasia Peach Nectar – Illamasqua Epic – Becca Rose Gold Having swatched all three side by side, unless you compare them against each other, they’re actually very similar in color and undertones. That said, Becca Rose Gold definitely throws off more of a rosy pink undertone. ***Anastasia Peach Nectar is almost identical to Illamasqua Epic and if anything, it feels so much smoother and buttery with instant color payoff. If you already have Peach Nectar in your collection, you definitely wouldn’t need Illamasqua Epic. Illamasqua Beyond Powder retails at $45 and it’s available via the Illamasqua website. If you’ve never tried this brand or you’re after a new highlighter, these powders would be a great addition to your kit. What’s your all time favorite highlighter?
