It’s just as well the very first post of 2016 on the site was on highlighters as it seems brands have no plans to slow down with their highlighter launches any time soon.
Latest addition to the highlighter/strobing family is by Hourglass Cosmetics. Expanding their already successful Ambient Lighting range of powders, they just released four newly formulated highlighters to their line: Ambient Strobe Lighting Powders…
Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Powders
Hourglass are not strangers to the ‘glowing skin’ trend. In fact, their Ambient Lighting powders are loved by many and happen to be one of my favorite setting powders too. Check out my detailed review on the Ambient Lighting Palette here
What sets these new Strobe Lighting Powders from the original Ambient Lighting powders or other brand of highlighters on the market is the finish they provide. The original Ambient Lighting powders leave a sheen on the skin but they’re typically used to set the face so they’re very subtle. Majority of the traditional highlighters leave a prominent shimmer when applied. So I guess we can say this new formula is actually a perfect in-between of the two.
Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Powders
Ambient Strobe Lighting Powders are formulated in a sheer base that’s infused with concentrated, ultra-fine mico-pearl particles in a number of sizes and refraction levels for natural-looking luminescence—without leaving a heavy metallic finish.
Another plus about these powders is that they’re universally flattering. Featuring soft gold, bronze, pearl and pink undertones, there’s a shade to suit every skin tone and of course the finely milled powder gives full control over how intense you prefer your glow to be. These powders can be used both dry and wet, again, depending on the intensity you prefer.
Hourglass also launched a beauty blender type of sponge called Ambient Strobe Light Sculptor to use with these powders but at $22, I wouldn’t consider it a necessity – especially if you already have a beauty blender or similar sponge, or prefer to use a brush.
The Ambient Strobe Lighting Powders retail at $38 for 0.16oz product per compact and can be purchased HERE
Do you have any products from the Hourglass Ambient line? What do you think of these Strobe powders?

These look amazing! I wasn’t originally sure what the difference would be between these & the original Ambient Lighting Powders. I assumed that they would be a standard highlighter, but they sound even better! I love my Ambient Lighting Palette, so I really hope they bring these out in a trio at some point. Thanks so much for sharing! Xx

Hi Tania, if you’re already a fan of the Ambient Lighting powders, you would definitely love these. The texture is very similar and blends beautifully. I’ll update if I hear anything about upcoming palettes, that would be amazing! :) xx
