Hi beauties! I have so many product reviews coming up, I’ve been snapping away with my camera like crazy :) Today’s star product Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette, has been on my ‘must-have’ list for some time.
Actually I’ve been intrigued with Hourglass Ambient powders since their release but I was so undecided what color to get, I preferred to wait til I was 100%. And wouldn’t you know it…Hourglass made it easy for me with the release of their Ambient Lighting Palette featuring 3 amazing shades – 2 already existing within their line and 1 new color exclusive to this palette.
If you’re interested in learning more about the individual Ambient Lighting Powders and also the blush range, check out my previous introduction post HERE
Lets start with the packaging: Hourglass Cosmetics is renowned for their classy, modern packaging with dark brown reflective surface and curved edges. They truly glisten in the light, absolutely beautiful. Of course they carried this through to the Ambient Lighting Palette too. It’s compact enough but still has that ‘look at me’ presence.
The palette features two existing shades within the Ambient Lighting Powder line which is Dim Light and Radiant Light. Incandescent Light was created particularly for this palette which is not available for individual sale as the other two shades are. The powders are the same very finely milled formula as the original line of powders. They literally melt into the skin.
In the words of Hourglass Cosmetics: Create your perfect light with this palette featuring three shades of Ambient Lighting Powder. Each of the high-tech, soft-focus finishing powders recreates an exquisitely flattering light source. The powders can be applied individually or layered to imbue skin with a multidimensional glow.
DIM LIGHT / INCANDESCENT LIGHT / RADIANT LIGHT

DIM LIGHT: A neutral peach beige powder that blurs imperfections and highlights a radiant complexion with the perfect balance of warm and cool tones
Out of the three shades, Dim Light has the least amount of shimmer. It definitely lives up to the claims of creating a soft blur over the skin. It’s great to use in the center of the face to bring light and smooth over any imperfections or to set under-eye concealer to further brighten that area. Also great for photography as it has no shimmer or flashback issues.
INCANDESCENT LIGHT: An opalescent pearl powder that brightens the complexion with a celestial glow
This ‘exclusive to the palette’ shade has beautiful shimmer throughout which can be used as a highlighter on high points of the face. However, an all over dusting also gives a beautiful sheen to the skin without looking too over the top. Although it’s a neutral shade, it has a cooler undertone compared to the other two.
RADIANT LIGHT: A sun-kissed golden beige that enhances the overall complexion with believable, subtle warmth, and also extends a summer glow
When I blend out the very first layer of this shade, it pretty much disappears on my NC35 skin. That said, I can dust it all over my face without worrying about it distributing too much color. I usually use this shade as a cheek bronzer to achieve a warm glow, or to add a hint of warmth to my blush colors.
Overall, this palette is truly gorgeous! It’s also a great way to try out this line of powders and test different shades. I know I’ve been enjoying the Dim Light and I would definitely consider getting the full size once I hit pan on this palette. All three shades can be incorporated into your makeup routine, regardless of how light or dark your skin may be. These powders are not setting powders so a light dusting will not only help you achieve the look you’re after but also last a long time.
Hourglass Ambient Palette retails at $58; individual Ambient Lighting Powders are $45 and Ambient Lighting Blush range is $35
