Glossier Love

by Sarah

Lets talk Glossier! You may have seen their highly-Instagrammable products popping up in all the cool posts and magazine pages.

Though they look appealing from afar, visiting their flagship store in New York recently, really put into perspective for me why this brand (and their products) have such a cult following.

I picked up some products that I already had my eye on, so here’s a run down of my thoughts on Glossier and their products…
*Review and swatches at the end of the post.

Glossier Coconut Balm DotCom and Cloud Paint in Dusk + Beam

Glossier is the OG of social media-born brands. Started by Emily Weiss in 2010 as a beauty blog named Into The Gloss, it was a place where consumers could find out about the latest products, ingredients, what worked and what quite didn’t make the cut.

Being exposed to what consumers really wanted, Emily put to good use years of collected information and expertise and created her own product line called Glossier. Adorning the social media pages – and vanities of many avid followers since 2014, Glossier is now one of the highly sought after and trusted brands which is continuously growing.

We make products inspired by the people who use them: you.

Here you’ll find skincare, makeup, bodycare, and fragrance optimized for real life, painstakingly perfected to be worthy of your bathroom shelf. We believe in efficacious formulas, thoughtful design, and enabling conversation (which is where it all starts). We don’t believe beauty is made in a boardroom—it happens when you get involved.

Featuring skincare, body care, makeup and just recently venturing into their sister brand Glossier Play which taps into more prominent color cosmetics, Glossier continues to hold their top spot in the beauty industry.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Glossier’s flagship store in New York – which was an experience in itself.

A pink hue hugs you as you enter into the showroom, with open displays of all their products where you can try and test and discover your favorites.

Friendly staff are always at hand to answer any questions you may have.

Once you choose your items, the sales person comes to you with an iPad, enters in your order and you make your way to a waiting area.

Here you see staff behind a desk, and an automated rail system behind them which connects to an upstairs area where orders are packed.

Once your order is ready in the signature pink/clear Glossier packaging, it gets hooked onto the machine and makes its way down to the desk where you get handed over your goodies.

The whole process is so much fun. It’s like Willy Wonka of beauty products; like there are little elves upstairs prepping and sending your order down as you excitedly await the delivery.

There are so many incredible Glossier products to choose from, with their Invisible Shield Sunscreen, Bubblewrap Eye + Lip Plumping Cream, and Boy Brow brow pomade being some of their best sellers.

However, I ended up with their most talked about Balm DotCom universal skin salve and two of their Cloud Paint cheek colors.

The infamous Balm DotCom is a clear balm used on lips – and anywhere else on the skin really.
It’s packed with antioxidants and natural emollients which hydrates the skin and prevents dryness, flakiness and chafing.

Even a bigger selling point of the Balm DotCom salves are the flavors.
I cannot explain to you how delicious each flavor is! With mango being their latest addition to this line, you can also choose from Rose, Mint, Coconut, Cherry, Birthday (yes it smells like cake!) and Original.

I had to get the Coconut one cos I felt like I was at some cafe in France as soon as I opened the lid. It smells like fresh macarons!

Its hydrating properties definitely live up to the claims. It’s possibly the only balm/salve type of lip product I’ve used that doesn’t end up drying my lips even more.

It forms a soft film over the skin, locks in the mositure; doesn’t feel sticky or heavy at all. Definite must-try from Glossier! Retails at $12 each.

Next up is their Cloud Paint cheek colors. You all know I love liquid/cream color products for that beautiful natural glowy look on the skin.

Cloud Paints are a gel-cream formula which apply and blend so easily and so seamlessly. They are buildable so you get full control of how much color you prefer.

They have 6 gorgeous colors ranging from deep cherry red to cool baby pink, bright coral to punchy berry.

I purchased Dusk – which a brown tone nude; and Beam which is a soft peach.

I reach for these Cloud Paints so often. A quick finger blend creates a gorgeous hue which sets on the cheeks and looks really natural.
I also dab the color on my lips too, followed by a layer of the Balm DotCom for that glossy stained look.

The cute little tubes are mess-free and convenient to travel with. Cloud Paints retail at $18 each.

I’m really impressed with Glossier on so many fronts. I like their brand concept, the quality and variety of their products and the simple yet fun packaging. They’re also cruelty free so that always ticks a box for me.

Glossier currently offers their products via their flagship stores or online. You can check out their full range and shop your favorites HERE
