Eye makeup can change a person’s look quite drastically, even if it’s just a coat of mascara to open up the eyes, a sweep of shadow across the lids to enhance the color of the eyes, or a simple line inside the waterline to completely transform us.
The products featured below have been my eye makeup staples, providing great flexibility in creating many different looks. As I mentioned in my previous two posts: Favourite Base products here and Favourite Cheek products here, I will be doing a drugstore- only list of favourites in the near future.
Eyeshadow: Lorac Pro Palette: Urban Decay’s Naked and Naked 2 palettes have been a huge hit since their release. Combining many amazing neutral shades was a big plus for many of us, however I always (deep down) wished they included more matte shadows. When I got my hands on this Lorac palette, it pretty much combined all my eyeshadow needs – including plenty of matte shades and a touch of color with purple and warm browns. The top line of this palette is all matte colors, the bottom line is all shimmers. The packaging is very slim with a decent size mirror so it makes the perfect travel companion. It also comes with a mini eye primer. Amazing color pay off too, so I couldn’t ask for more :)
Eyeliner: Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner: Liquid and gel liners are also essential favourites of mine, but I find pencil liners are more versatile. You can use a pencil liner to do a very soft look, or you can go all out and create intense dramatic looks. The texture and ‘smudge-factor’, as well as longevity is very important and these Urban Decay 24/7 pencils combine all those factors within the one product. They have a soft buttery texture and blend beautifully for a smudgy/worn-in look, yet you can also achieve a perfect structured line. As the name 24/7 suggests, they’re also colorstay, meaning they do not budge. There are so many amazing colors within this line but brown and black are always good base shades to have.
Mascara: Lancome Hypnose Drama: I must confess, that I’m forever in search of “the one” when it comes to mascaras. My lashes are stubbornly straight and I love curled, long, big lashes…so we’re constantly fighting. Waterproof mascaras are the only type that hold the curl really well but taking them off always frustrates me. As my search continues for the perfect mascara that can do it all, I stick to this Lancome Hypnose Drama mascara for the amazing volume and intensity of color it provides. It can get quite heavy on the lashes and speaking from personal experience, it doesn’t help with my straight lashes, but I just go over them again with my lash curler after the formula dries. If your lashes generally hold curls well, you would love this formula for the lengthening and volumising effect it gives.
False Lashes: I really wish there would be another term for these lashes than either fake or false…I mean, I know they are, but they help enhance the eyes so nicely, it’s almost unfair to call them false :) Nevertheless, whether you’re looking to create dramatic eyes, or add a subtle pair to complete your look, false lashes have evolved a great deal over the last few years. No matter what brand I try, I always go back to Ardell lashes. Quality and style wise, they make the most flattering lashes, and I especially prefer the ones with invisible bands – so that they’re not too obvious when used for more natural looks. They also get closer to the base of your natural lashes and tend to be more flexible when applying, compared to the ones with thicker bands. The #120 demi lashes give just enough volume and whisp, without looking too chunky. I use Duo lash glue with them (clear drying type).

Can you recommend any good mascaras that are not waterproof yet hold curl well?
