I turned my computer on couple of hours ago with the intention of doing a product review. As soon as the screen lit up, I saw the smiling face of actor Robin Williams appear in front of me with the dreaded letters RIP over it. It’s when I read the article and realised it was suicide, my shoulders dropped…my heart sank.
So I hope you don’t mind today’s post being a little different in content but I wanted to share a few thoughts…
People can hide so much pain and constantly be fighting – sometimes a losing battle – with many demons within themselves. And some are so good at hiding all that behind a smile whilst making others happy and suffer in silence, we only realise the extent of their despair when it may be too late. Anything at any time can be the difference between make or break.
It’s important that we reflect every so often and remember that everyone is fighting a battle of their own, and some are more sensitive than others. A smile, a hello, a little helping hand can be all that a person needs to make it through another day safe and sound. Being kind, having more compassion, learning to sympathise and trying to put ourselves in other people’s shoes only adds to us all being human.
And being the reason for someone’s smile rather than their despair surely has to be a blessing for us all right?
Rest in peace Mr Robin Williams…you brought so much joy and laughter to all for so many years, I can only hope you too are finally smiling the way you always deserved to…
