Cover FX Prime & Set

by Sarah

Hi beauties! As I do at intervals, I took some time off from cyber world and I’m happy to be back refreshed and ready to dive back into what we do best…makeup and beauty of course!

I was at Sephora the other day and saw the new Cover FX Prime & Set packs. I’m not sure if these are exclusive to Sephora but if like me, you’re a fan of Cover FX products, these packs are definitely worth exploring..

Cover FX Illuminating Prime & Set

There are 2 travel size sets to choose from: Mattifying Prime & Set and Illuminating Prime & Set – which is the one I got.

The Mattifying Prime & SetΒ contains a Mattifying Primer, Mattifying Setting Spray and Mattifying Setting Powder. If you’re battling oily or acne prone skin, this trio will help you keep the oil at bay, leaving your skin with a flawless velvety finish.

The Illuminating Prime & Set contains an Illuminating Primer, Illuminating Setting Spray and my personal favorite Custom Enhancer Drops in the shade Moonlight.

Although I have an oily T-zone, I prefer a glowing, dewy finish on my skin overall, so I opted for the Illuminating Set. You can mix and match these sets depending on your skin type and preference.

Cover FX Illuminating Prime & Set

Illuminating Primer: The base of this primer is a light lotion-like consistency which dries on the skin very quickly. It’s vegan; and it’s silicone and fragrance free. It has finely milled shimmer throughout which gives it the soft-focus illuminating finish.

You can use this primer under foundation but it’s also great to use on its own as it hydrates the skin without feeling heavy or oily, as well as providing that gorgeous healthy glow all over.

Illuminating Setting Spray: I tried photographing the tiny little sparkles throughout this product in my swatch below but being a clear, water-like consistency made it hard to capture it properly. When I look inside the bottle, I can see swirls of shimmer through the liquid. I believe this setting spray contains Custom Enhancer Drops which gives it the soft shimmery finish.

As per the recommendations, it’s important to shake the bottle really well, otherwise chunks of shimmer can collect on the skin. It’s also best to hold the bottle well away from the face so a light mist of the product forms a veil over the skin for an even glow.

Custom Enhancer Drops in Moonlight: This is a mini version of my all time favorite liquid highlighters. With a “liquid metal” finish, these super pigmented drops are amazing to use as highlighter, or to mix into your foundations, moisturizers or even primers for a dewy glowing goodness.

I did a detailed post on the Custom Enhancer Drops, explaining how to make the most of them in your makeup application. Check out my full review and how to >Β HERE

Can I use the highlighter drops if I have oily skin? I really like it but I don’t know what to do with it. Thank you and I love your site!

Hi Melinda, yes you can definitely use the drops even if you have oily skin. They contain pure pigment so they dry on the skin and don’t move. Best way to apply is with a beauty blender so it takes the excess product off as you blend :)

Hi Carolina, they are amazing products! The primer in the mattifying set is also anti acne so it’s great for oily and acne prone skin :)

Hi Sarah which Sephora did you get this from? I don’t think my local Sephora has them, I may have to order online.

Hi Beck, I got mine at the Beverly Hills store. I’m not sure how long they’ve been around for, or if they’re available at select stores. Best to purchase online :)
