Colourpop Where The Light Is – KatleenLights Set

by Sarah

As if I’m not already obsessed enough with Colourpop products, they really know how to keep pulling at my makeup heart strings with each new release.

Along with an amazing new range of highlighters about to launch, Colourpop has just released a new 4-pack of their Super Shock eyeshadows called Where The Light Is. Those of you who are familiar with Youtube beauty personalities, Colourpop has collaborated with a popular Youtuber named Kathleen Lights to design this palette. And if you’re a sucker for warm colors like me, you will LOVE this set!

Featuring 2 matte and 2 shimmer shades, the color palette is perfect for glowing summer looks. The consistency of the formula is the fluffy cream/gel consistency Colourpop have become renowned for and best applied with fingers to begin with and blended out with a fluffy brush.

Glow is a true vanilla shade. I love that it’s matte as I prefer matte shades to highlight the brow bone versus shimmer shades.

Cornelius is a mid tone peach/brown which is perfect for a transition color in the crease.

KathleenLights is a super pigmented bronze with gold undertones. It goes on like butter and distributes crazy amount of color.

Blaze is the second shimmer shade in the kit and it’s a muted khaki with gold undertones. Perfect for a soft smokey eye.

Going by the name of the box set Where The Light Is, I can understand why they selected light matte and softer shimmer colors. That said, I almost wish the darker color Blaze was a little deeper in shade to create more of a contrast and intensity so this set would be perfect for daytime looks as well as night time…but I love Colourpop products too much and I’m happy to compromise and throw in an additional black matte shadow or black liner in there from my own stash ;)

Again, at $5 per shadow pot, this box set is $20. Colourpop delivers within the US, as well as Australia and New Zealand. Look out for their highlighter range which is due to launch any day now. They’re gorgeous!!

What do you guys think of this set? Have you started your Colourpop collection yet? xx

I have this set and I absolutely love it! Kathleenlights is my favorite shade to just place all over my lid and blend Cornelius into my crease! My go to daily, quick eye look! Great post!

Great combo Alexis! I agree, this was one of the most versatile quads Colourpop had :)

Hi Sarah,

I love colourpop products so much, but I’m having trouble applying my supershock shadows. I have quite deep set eyes, so getting a good application with my fingers is difficult, especially with darker colors where I want to only apply to a small area or use as a liner. For instance, I have “high rise” which is a gorgeous matte pine green that I really want to use for a eyeliner, or a smokey eye. Do you have any tips or tutorials for working with this deliciously creamy supershock formula?

Sarah June 8, 2017 - 3:32 am

Hi Beatrice! I know exactly what you mean. I usually use synthetic bristle brushes with these shadows. Small ‘flat shader’ brushes are great to pack on the color, especially when you’re trying to concentrate on smaller areas. e.g.: Sigma E55 or E57 are along the lines of what works really well.

As for eyeliner, again firm bristles work best as they pick up just enough color and you have full control over where to apply it. e.g.: Sigma E21 smudge brush is great for doing a smokey lash line or E65 small angle brush for a sharper, more defined line.
Colourpop offers deals from time to time where they throw in a flat shader or an angle liner brush with purchases so keep an eye on those specials ;) Hope this helps.

OMG these are gorgeous!!! :o

Do you know of any dupes for that golden shade? It’s sooo beautiful but unfortunately colour pop isn’t for sale where I live :(

Hi Jessy, I’m pretty sure Colourpop will expand their shipping locations very soon. Until then, Loreal Infallible pressed pigments are the closest you’ll get to the Colourpop shadows (both texture and intensity wise). They release different seasonal shades but if you can find it Gold Imperial would probably be the closest to the Colourpop one.
I have a post on my Infallible shadow collection if you’d like to check out some of the other colors too:
Let me know if you have any other questions ;) xx

Sarah…..I so love this brand as you know, I can’t say enough on the quality of the products and class act of this company. I saw this set on their site, I think YOU should have a color set, I would so buy it!! Because of you I am a ColourPop/Becca junkie…Thanks for always sharing the love. : )

Awww Trisha you’re so cute! I would love to create a set for Colourpop but I have a feeling stars may not line any time soon for that :)) I’m so glad the posts helped you add some new favorites to your collection. Isn’t it amazing how the two brands are completely opposite ends of the scale to each other price wise and yet the quality is amazing on both. I have couple of revolutionary products I’m reviewing at the moment – super excited cos it’s very rare to have such unique products launched. Will share them very soon!! Have a fabulous day!! xx
