Liquid matte lipsticks have been such a craze of late, I was quite pleased to see Colourpop jump on the bandwagon. And in the typical Colourpop fashion, they never do things by halves. They launched 25 crazy intense colors and needless to say their site crashed within minutes of the launch with ‘matte lip hungry’ devotees trying to get their hands on these babies.
I managed to get all the colors I had my eyes on before they sold out. *Yes, currently all colors are sold out but Colourpop did release a statement they’re fast working at restocking.
These lip paints come in a 3.2g traditional lip gloss tube with a slanted sponge tip applicator. The formula is quite liquid-y but the pigmentation is CRAZY! I tried capturing the exact color payoff in the swatches below and rest assured they’re true to what comes out of the tubes. They go on glossy and dry to a totally matte finish within minutes and they set! They’re definitely not going anywhere until you decide to take them off.
VICE – MIDI – SOLOW – DONUT – OUIJI – DRIVE IN – CREEPER – AVENUE
There’s practically every single color family for lips that you can imagine within this launch. From the nudest nudes to the vampiest browns, Colourpop made sure they catered for all skin tones and tastes. *And they will be releasing many more shades in the near future ;)
As with any liquid matte lipstick, these lipsticks also dry to a matte finish, however they don’t feel as heavy and crumbly as some other brands. Being super pigmented means you can achieve a full coverage with just one coat. This makes a big difference with lip paints as the more you need to apply, the more cakey and drying they become and that’s when they start to crack and break apart. I’m happy these feel really smooth and comfortable on the lips.
*The only color I had some issue with was the darkest red – Avenue; it needed a little more attention to prevent streaking but once you get the hang of it, it coats the lips perfectly and you can bet it’s not going anywhere.
And last but not least, considering the quality, color payoff, variety and longevity of these lip paints, Colourpop pretty much swung a huge punch with their price point as these lip paints only cost $6 each! Compared to all other brands retailing between $18-$22, I have no idea how Colourpop managed such a release but I’m definitely not complaining.
Here’s the full range of colors within this collection and again, currently they’re all sold out but they’ll be back by the time you make your shopping list :)
