Colourpop Pressed Powder Eyeshadows

by Sarah

Just when I think Colourpop might take a little break from being totally awesome, they go and launch bigger and better products sending us makeup lovers into an absolute frenzy!

Colourpop just launched their very first line of Pressed Powder Eyeshadows and although I’m drowning in eyeshadow palettes, I just couldn’t help myself when I saw these delicious shades…

Colourpop Pressed Powder Eyeshadows

Being a devout fan of Colourpop products, I’m super happy about these powder eyeshadow formulas.ย Theyย launched a good variety of warm and cool shades in matte, satin and metallic finishes; (and three pre-designed palettes available on their site).

I purchasedย the 10 colors below to begin with which are typically my favorite shades.ย The day I placed my order, Colourpop hit 1million followers on their Facebook page so they had a bonus eyeshadow named Mili which they included in every purchase.

This brings my total to 11 shadows….“for now”…and I say that with great certainty as I’m already hooked.

Top: Let Me Explain, You Know The Drill, Save It For Later, Mili – Middle: Wake Up Call, Bel Air, Note To Self, Top Notch –ย Bottom: Made To Last, Popular Demand, Cloud Nine

Lets start with the formula and quality:ย Given these shadows are only $5 each, I was blown away by how soft, silky and pigmented they all are. They apply evenly and blend seamlessly.

The shimmer ones, especially the bonus shade Mili applied just as well (if not better) than some high end brands which are 3-4 times the price. I don’t know how Colourpop manages to roll out such amazing quality products at the prices they do, but no complaints from me…or their millions of fans.

The matte shades had a bit more fall-out but it wasn’t any less or more than majority of matte shadows out there. The formula is very soft so I recommend a light hand when loading the colors onto your brushes.

Here are the swatches of the colors I have. Most of them are one swipe, howeverย I had to double swipe for the lighter matte shades (Wakeup Call and Bel Air) to get some intensity against my skin tone.

Top: Let Me Explain, You Know The Drill, Save It For Later, Mili – Left:ย Wake Up Call, Bel Air, Note To Self, Top Notch – Right:ย Made To Last, Popular Demand, Cloud Nine

The shadows come in single packs so you’ll need a magnetic palette to store them in. I love Makeup Forever Metal Palettes which come in different sizes.ย I’m not sure how long they’ll have the offer but with any purchase of 4 or more shadows, Colourpop currently offersย a free empty palette (which holds 4 shadows – as pictured below). They were out of stock when I placed my order so I don’t have this.ย

Along with extending the color variety and textures of these shadows, they will also be launching powder highlighters, bronzers (and possibly blushes) in the near future.

It seems my bank account won’t be getting a rest any time soon but my large Makeup Forever Metal Paletteย has plenty of room to welcome the new additions :)

Colourpop Pressed Powder Eyeshadows

Colourpop Pressed Powder Eyeshadows are $5 each. Colourpop offers free shipping with purchases over $30 within US; and over $50 internationally. I mean…what’s not to love right!

Did you purchase any of the new Colourpop eyeshadows? What are your favorite colors?

I think the last ColourPop eyeshadow I bought was the now-discontinued “Facet,” and I loved it.
Now I’m looking hard at “Let Me Explain,” though I fear it is too yellow-gold for NW15 me.
I’m really looking for a neutral pearl-colored highlight shade.
Recommendations, anyone?

Hi Carla, Let Me Explain is a soft ivory so it shouldn’t pull too yellow. But, you could also consider Colourpop’s eyeshadow quads – which I believe are on sale for $8 right now (versus $5 for the single eyeshadow). They all feature a highlight shade and you get other colors too. Some of them are cooler toned so the shimmer/highlight shade may be more of that cooler pearlescent tone you’re after.
Have a look at the following:
Cream Soda Quad – the color Float is a little cooler than Let Me Explain; and the rest of the colors are quite subtle to suit your skin tone
Head Capricorn in Charge – the color Play Hard is again a cool toned pearlescent
Ballad (5-shadow mini palette) – the highlighter in this one called Novel is a true pearl

I hope that helps :)

This was so helpful. I’m going to be ordering Made to Last, Note to Self, Wake Up Call, Lay Low, Conundrum, and Take the Lead.

Hi Sarah I finally got some of the colors you swatched here and I love everything about these shadows! They have so much color pay off and blend really easily. I can’t wait for them to add more colors to this range. Thanks for getting me onto them :) xx

These looks amazing ! Btw, I’m currently having a hard time to choose between Colourpop’s Super Shock Shadow ( Love
Line ) and Tarte Tartelette in Bloom. I would really appreciate your suggestions though !

Hi Madeline; I have both Colourpop’s Love Line and Tarte’s In Bloom palettes. They’re both gorgeous but obviously the major differences between the two are texture and price. In Bloom is definitely more expensive but you also get more variety of textures and colors.

As much as I love Colourpop’s super shock shadows, I find myself reaching for the In Bloom palette more often because powder shadows are easier to blend and the palette allows me to create so many different looks. It’s also more convenient to have everything in the one compact palette. I did a review/swatch post of In Bloom, if you’d like to take a look: http://beautypointofview.com/tarte-in-bloom-palette/

Hope that helps; let me know what you decide ;)
