Lipcare has always been quite important to me but unfortunately I could never find a balm that hydrated the lips but also flattered them with a nice sheen and a plump look…until I discovered Burt’s Bees!
Regardless of the finish they provide, all the Burt’s Bees lip products I tried so far are very moisturising. They’re not sticky nor too oily and hence offer a good balance. They don’t set or dry on the lips as most balms do. The colored ones are very subtle and give off a pretty sheen so they can be worn alone for a natural look or over lipsticks.
Burt’s Bees pride themselves in developing environmentally friendly and cruelty free products, using only natural ingredients which is yet another bonus. Natural honey is known for its healing and moisturising properties so it’s no wonder the products containing this amazing ingredient work so well. Burt’s Bees also feature a wide range of skin and body care, haircare, babycare and mens line of products. Here’s my collection of Burt’s Bees lipcare; please note all these lines feature more colors and flavors; these are the ones I have ;)
On the left are the Tinted Lip Balms: These are nourishing balms with a hint of colour, no smell, no shimmer.
Top to Bottom: Honeysuckle, Tiger Lilly, Pink Blossom, Hibiscus
On the right are the Regular Lip Balms: These are infused with fruit flavors such as mango, acai berry and pomegranate. Some have colour but they go on quite clear which is why I didn’t swatch them.
Top to Bottom: Nourishing Mango Butter, Rejuvenating Acai Berry and Replenishing Pomegranate
The skinny ones below are the Lip Shimmers – as the name suggests, as well as a hint of colour, they also have shimmer in them. They have a subtle minty taste which cools the lips.
Top to Bottom: Caramel, Peony
Tinted Lip Balm swatches: Honeysuckle – my favourite, it’s a sheen neutral colour of pinky beige; Tiger Lilly – peachy nude; Pink Blossom – as the name suggests -carries pink tones; Hibiscus – nowhere near as bright as it is in the tube but it does leave a natural “bitten” shade on the lips.
Lip Shimmer swatches: Peony – shimmering pinky nude; Caramel – shimmering peachy beige (more colors available in this line)
