OK my darlings, for today’s post, I’m putting aside the thrills and frills of high end brands and stripping things right down to the basics.
I know for makeup lovers like us, it’s really easy to get carried away with new release products, the glistening packaging, carefully thought out advertising and before we know it, we’re home with another makeup item bought on impulse. Though I have so many different brand makeup products and have my absolute favorites amongst them, I also have inexpensive/drugstore essentials that I’m just as in love with.
Today’s post is about my favorite neutral palettes at bargain prices offering great variety and quality: Enter: BH Cosmetics!
Before the Urban Decay Naked Palettes, Lorac Pro palettes and all the other brands that followed suit with their own version of the neutral palette craze, there were these BH Cosmetics palettes. Neutral shades are essential in any makeup kit and the two palettes I’m featuring today have been a big part of my personal and professional kit for years.
These BH Cosmetics palettes combine a great variety of colors including matte, satin and shimmer shades, as well as a good balance of dark and warm tones to create endless looks. And at a fraction of the cost of many similar color palettes, you just cannot go wrong with one (or both) of these babies ;)
28-Color NEUTRAL EYE PALETTE – $8.95

This 28 color neutral palette was my first BH Cosmetics palette. The lighting doesn’t do much justice to the left side of the palette where there are many variations of beige and nude shades – in matte, satin and shimmer finish. If you like your warm brown and peachy tones, with an added bonus of some pinks hues in there, this palette would be perfect for you. I also love the inclusion of the matte black; which helps add depth and intensity to your looks, or create a killer smokey eye if you wish ;)
26-Color SHADOW BLUSH COMBO PALETTE – $14.95
GET IT HERE
This eyeshadow/blush combo palette is simply gorgeous! and after the release of Urban Decay’s Naked 3 palette, I find myself recommending it to people who want to create similar looks but don’t want the $50 price tag attached to it. As with the previous palette, this palette also has matte, satin and shimmer shades. Soft browns, taupes, gold/bronze, pink and berry hues make this palette so versatile. There’s also five blush shades on the bottom row so everything you need is packed into this clever little palette.
The quality of the shadows/blushes do vary from shade to shade. Shimmer shades are much more pigmented whereas some of the lighter matte shades can apply a little chalky. This said, even higher end palettes have the same problem with light matte colors so as long as you apply liberally and build the color by blending, they perform just fine.
The packaging is simple and slim…very similar to the 15-shadow MAC palettes.
There are no individual names to the shades and it was a huge task to swatch all 54 colors so I only did a quick swatch of some random shades I picked from both palettes. These are just one swipe so you can see the color payoff:
BH Cosmetics always have amazing discounts on their website and they offer international shipping too. You can click the links above to purchase the two featured palettes, or you can check out other palettes and products within the BH Cosmetics line HERE
