Beauty Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation August 18, 2016 And it’s finally here! The long awaited Stick Foundation by Anastasia Beverly Hills just launched and makeup lovers can’t contain their excitement for a very good reason. Other than this being the very first foundation line for Anastasia, it is possibly one of the most diverse color range I’ve seen from a makeup brand in a very long time… Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation There are 30 colors altogether within this range. Although the formula is the same, 3 of these colors are contour sticks and one is a highlighter. The contour shades all have cool undertone which is perfect; the highlighter is called Banana and has a yellow undertone to brighten the skin. Being a stick foundation, the formula is cream. It’s designed for combination/oily skin. *This does not mean you can’t use this foundation if you have dry skin. You would need to make sure you moisturize well or use a moisturizing primer with it. The coverage is medium to full but it can be sheered down to a light coverage. I would consider the finish a natural satin – not too dewy and not too matte either. The ABH Stick Foundations are $25 each and come in a 0.32oz twist up tube. SHOP Anastasia Stick Foundation HERE Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundations – Contour & Highlight Sticks Norvina, who basically does product development for the brand, has not left a stone unturned when creating the color range for these foundations. Skin tones can be very tricky to decode as each skin color has a tone, an undertone, depth and temperature (warm or cool). Creating a foundation line which can basically cater for almost all skin tones is a huge task and one that not many brands get right. The colors are either limited, the tones are not right or they simply don’t perform. So, to have created a foundation line which takes into account all the color variables is admirable to say the least. Without confusing you too much, here’s how Anastasia Beverly Hills categorized their Stick Foundation colors so you can choose your correct shade: Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation Categories The range is divided into 6 color categories and each category features different undertones such as neutral, pink, yellow, olive, golden and so on. Choosing the right foundation is hard enough even when we can test them in the stores, so I know buying it online can be even more daunting. I recently shared my tips and tricks on how to match your foundation color when shopping online, including what to look out for and pointers to make sure you get your closest match. So I’m currently a light beige in Too Faced’s Born This Way foundation (Although my natural skin tone is just very slightly darker) and I wanted to know what the equivalent would be in your foundation and also what contour would match? Thanks! Reply Alexandra Mazzie April 20, 2017 at 11:33 pm Also I have a very olive undertone! Reply Sarah April 21, 2017 at 4:03 am Hi Alexandra, based on the Too Faced Light Beige, your ABH equivalent would be Beige but this is more of a neutral undertone. You mentioned you’re an olive undertone so that would actually make you Warm Beige in the ABH range. Are there any other brand foundations that match you well so we can narrow the undertone down more for you? Reply AJ April 6, 2017 at 10:49 pm Hi Sarah! I’m looking to purchase a few ABH stick foundations. One for base and one for a contour. I wear NARS sheer glow in Tahoe during the winter – not sure what it will be during the summer. I believe I have yellow undertones. In the past I’ve used Mac NC 45 . I also use Mac mineralized skinfinish Dark. I believe I need either Amber or Carmel for base and maybe Walnut for contour but not certain. Which stick foundations would you recommend for base and contour for me? Thanks in advance! :) Reply Sarah April 7, 2017 at 4:12 am Hi AJ, you’re right. ABH Caramel is the closest to NARS Tahoe and ABH Amber is closer to NC45. Given you’re also looking for a contour color, I usually recommend going for the lighter shade (ABH Caramel) as it’s easier to deepen the color of a foundation with contour/bronzers than to try and lighten it. As for contour stick, if you’re after a “true” contour color which carries cool undertones, the ABH contour stick in Mink would be good. If you’re after a more natural contour, ABH foundation stick in Chestnut would complement Caramel really well. Here’s a demonstration using these colors based on Caramel foundation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBBO6GYfloA Reply Adriana April 4, 2017 at 3:35 pm Hi Sarah! I’m somewhat of a MAC NC35-NC40 and Maybelline Fit Me 230 Natural Buff. Is it best to go for Golden or Tan? Since both are described as medium shades but with different undertones and I’m not sure to go for an olive undertone or a neutral undertone. Which undertone is the safest? I’m more in the warm family and not the cool side. Reply Sarah April 5, 2017 at 2:45 am Hi Adriana, going by the MAC NC35-40 spectrum, ABH Tan is in fact the closest match in terms of both color and undertone. Although the description of it appears as “neutral” on the ABH website, you’ll notice it’s still within the Warm category on the pie chart (featured in my post). It’s definitely not the pinkish type of neutral we tend to see in some foundations so you can confidently purchase ABH Tan for your skin tone and undertone :) Reply Emily April 6, 2017 at 12:01 am Hello! I’m so glad I found your blog, I’ve been so keen to get this foundation and they don’t sell it in my country! I am the shade Deauville in Nars Sheer Glow and the shade 3.0 in Urban Decay Naked Weightless Liquid but UD oxidises a little on my face and ends up a bit warm. I have been told that I would match MAC NC20 but I’ve never been matched. Thanks in advance!! Emily Reply Sarah April 6, 2017 at 6:57 am Hi Emily, welcome to the blog! Based on the average of the colors you mentioned, you would in fact be a close match to MAC NC20, which is ABH Warm Ivory. Oxidization usually occurs due to the formula of the foundation which is probably why you’re experiencing the UD Naked turning too warm. ABH stick foundations don’t have this problem so you should be OK. Hope that helps :) Reply Emily April 12, 2017 at 11:40 pm Thank you so much for your quick reply!! Out of interest, my concealer ranges from a NC10-15 in the MAC pro concealer palette and I am thinking of going lighter for winter to match these shades (it’s getting cold here in Australia!) What you would recommend? Thanks in advance :) Reply Sarah April 21, 2017 at 3:58 am Hi Emily, the lightest you can go in the ABH range is Warm Alabaster which would be a close match to NC10- based on the same undertones I’ve recommended before :) Hannah March 9, 2017 at 2:09 pm Hey I’m looking for an ABH stick foundation usually wear the benefit play stick in jump rope or tarte full coverage foundation in medium tan honey …any help would be greatly appreciated thanks Reply Sarah March 10, 2017 at 12:45 pm Hi Hannah, I’m not too familiar with the Benefit Play stick line of colors but Tarte Medium Tan Honey is close to ABH Golden. I answered the same question couple of comments below for Jasmine in more detail so you can check that for more info also. Hope that helps. Reply Maite Vargas March 17, 2017 at 6:35 pm Hi Sarah. I would love to try this foundation stick. I’m currently Mac studio fix in C4.5 it’s slightly dark & slightly too “neutral” I need a little more of yellow in it. I do TAN very much during spring/summer. What shade would I be? Of course a shade or 2 darker would be for spring/summer. TYIA Reply Sarah March 18, 2017 at 2:23 am Hi Maite, based on the MAC C4.5, you’re almost an in between shade within the ABH line. Are there any other brand foundations that match you well? It would help me average out your shade and undertones :) Reply Elizabeth March 8, 2017 at 8:43 am Hi I actually want to try this product more as highlight -countour. Which 2 should I get? I’m a nc25 MAC foundation. Thanks for your help!! Reply Sarah March 9, 2017 at 6:48 am Hi Elizabeth, you can go two ways with this: The Banana highlighter stick + Shadow contour stick OR Warm Alabaster foundation stick as highlighter + Shadow contour stick. The different shades in the highlighter depends on your preference; Banana is quite yellow and brightening, Warm Alabaster is couple of shades lighter than your skin color (based on MAC NC25) which would give you a more subtle highlight. Hope that helps :) Reply elizabeth March 13, 2017 at 2:38 am Thank yo u soooo much. But what color countour should I get? Reply Sarah March 14, 2017 at 8:58 am Hi Elizabeth, the contour stick in the color Shadow will be suitable for your coloring and also for either of the highlighters I recommended. It has a cool undertone. You can apply a sheer layer for a natural look or build it up for a more intense sculpted look. Reply Elizabeth March 30, 2017 at 5:07 pm Hi thank you for your advise – I love the product ! However – I would like to try a more warm undertone for the countour instead of cool. What else can I use instead of the shadow color? Again I’m nc25 Mac foundation & I did get the bananna stick as a highlight. Hope you hear from you soon! Sarah March 31, 2017 at 3:36 am Hi Elizabeth, you can go one shade darker for a natural look which would be ABH Golden; or go 2 shades darker which is ABH Warm Tan. I personally prefer contour colors to be slightly darker as I like the option of sheering them out or building up intensity. If you’re the same, ABH Warm Tan should give you plenty of contrast without turning too muddy. Hope that helps :) Hannah March 6, 2017 at 1:35 pm Hi! I’m shade NW13 in Mac. Do you think I should go for alabaster or porcelain? Would warm alabaster (shade in between alabaster and porcelain) be the wrong undertone? I’m lost! Thank you :) Reply Sarah March 7, 2017 at 2:55 am Hi Hannah, you’re definitely right in between ABH Alabaster and Porcelain so you can go either way depending on how well of a match NW13 is on you. If you use contour or bronzers, then I usually recommend going the lighter shade (Alabaster) cos it’s easier to deepen the color of foundation than to lighten it – if that makes sense. In terms of undertones, NW13 is within the neutral spectrum so the warm shades within the ABH line would be too yellow against your skin tone. Definitely stick to Alabaster or Porcelain. Please let me know if you have any questions. Reply Jasmine March 3, 2017 at 3:13 pm Hi, love your blog!! Ive beewanting to try this so bad but Im having a hard time color matching myself online. I self tan all year around.. My best matches are UD all nighter 4.0, Tarte medium tan honey, it cosmetics tan (medium when my tan starts to wear off!), Im not too sure about my mac shade but Im guessing NC27-30?? On the warm olive side. I was thinking Id be Golden or Honey? What do you think?? Thank you for your help, xx Reply Sarah March 4, 2017 at 10:02 am Hi Jasmine, welcome to the blog! Based on the UD All Nighter 4.0, your closest match would actually be ABH Warm Natural – (this is in fact MAC NC30/35 equivalent). Tarte Medium Tan Honey is slightly deeper so closest ABH match for this would be Golden. Both of these ABH colors have warm/olive undertones. It’s just a matter of deciding whether UD matches you better and hence go with ABH Warm Natural or Tarte matches you better and hence go with ABH Golden. Hope that makes sense :) Reply Kavitha March 2, 2017 at 10:32 pm Hi, So happy I stumbled across this page! I am the shade Tahoe im Nars sheer glow. What would be the best abh shade for mr? Also what can I use as contour and highlight? Thank you! Reply Mireya March 3, 2017 at 1:59 am Hi, I’m wondering what shade I will be for the ABH stick Foundation ? I’m in the shade Light 45 for the Kat Von D Lock It Foundation and in the shade vanilla for the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation . Thank you ! 🤗 Reply Sarah March 3, 2017 at 3:31 am Hi Mireya, based on an average of the two colors you mentioned (and their undertones), closest ABH match would be Warm Ivory. Please note, Kat Von D 45 light is slightly lighter than Too Faced Vanilla. Again, my recommendation is based on an average of the two. Reply Sarah March 3, 2017 at 3:21 am Hi Kavitha, welcome to the blog! ABH Caramel is the closest shade to Tahoe. Contour depends on how intense you prefer it to be. For true cool toned contour that you can sheer down for a natural look or build up for intensity, ABH Contour Stick in Mink would complement Caramel really well. For a warmer contour, you can go with ABH Chestnut. Here’s a video tutorial of all the highlight and contour colors ABH used with Caramel to help you decide which option you prefer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBBO6GYfloA Reply Ilam March 1, 2017 at 3:02 pm What shade would I be as I am a nc20/25 mixed in Mac studio fix and Nars all day luminous in shade Stromboli Reply Sarah March 2, 2017 at 8:31 am Hi Ilam, there’s couple of levels of shade difference between MAC NC20-25 to NARS Stromboli. ABH Beige is closer to MAC NC20/25, ABH Warm Natural is closer to Sromboli. Reply Maryam February 24, 2017 at 7:01 pm Hi I was wondering what shade would be best for me in the ABH stick foundation I use the Nars sheer glow foundation in Barcelona Reply Sarah February 25, 2017 at 6:40 am Hi Maryam, ABH Tan is a close match with similar undertones. Reply Mariana February 28, 2017 at 3:51 am Hi’ i use the true match foundation in w6 and the kat von d lock it tattoo foundation in medium 53 warm. which abh foundation stick do you think would be the best match? thank you! Reply Sarah February 28, 2017 at 5:47 am Hi Mariana, given the average and undertones of both foundations you mentioned, ABH Tan would be the closest match. Reply Silvia February 24, 2017 at 7:49 am Hi there , I’m using Giorgio Amani luminous silk foundation in ( 6 ) witch color is close to the one I’m useing ? Thank you for your help Reply Sarah February 24, 2017 at 3:40 pm Hi Silvia, ABH Warm Natural is a close match. Reply Sophie February 11, 2017 at 7:57 pm Hi Sarah, I use a MAC NC42 in studio fix fluid foundation. What shade of ABH stick foundation would suit me? I guessed either Amber or caramel. Let me know if my guess is anywhere close to what you think :D Reply Sophie February 11, 2017 at 8:05 pm So I looked up if you’ve already answered about NC42 and it turns out you have! So the shade is Warm Tan? Reply Sarah February 12, 2017 at 5:23 am Hi Sophie, that’s correct. ABH Warm Tan is closest to NC42. Amber and Caramel are more along the lines of NC44/45. Hope that helps :) Reply Sophie February 14, 2017 at 12:34 pm Thank you! Really appreciate what you do <3 Reply Brianna Mosley February 14, 2017 at 1:12 am Hi Sarah, I use the MAC NC45 in studio fix fluid foundation. What shade of ABH stick foundation would suit me? i haven’t found anything that perfectly matches my skin so it looks warm and natural looking. I look ashy or too orange in most foundations. hopes this helps Reply Sarah February 14, 2017 at 2:22 am Hi Brianna, ABH Amber is closest to NC45. It’s within the warm undertone category so I’m confident it won’t turn ashy or orange. Let me know how it all works out :) Reply Mary February 2, 2017 at 10:05 pm Hi! I was matched to NW33 at Mac. Which do you suggest would work for me? Reply Natasha chiuchiolo February 4, 2017 at 5:16 am Hi I’m nc20 in studio fix mac what colour stick would match me I also used mac powder nc30 too Reply Sarah February 5, 2017 at 11:23 am Hi Natasha, ABH Warm Ivory is a close match to NC20. Reply Sarah February 5, 2017 at 11:22 am Hi Mary, there’s not an exact match for NW33; you’re almost in between ABH Natural (slighyly lighter) and ABH Honey (slightly darker). If you don’t want to buy both to custom mix your color, I would recommend you go with ABH Natural (the lighter shade) as it’s easier to deepen the color with bronzers or contour if need be. Hope that helps. Reply Nancy February 2, 2017 at 1:35 pm Hi, I wear too faced born this way in natural beige. What shade do you think is best for me? Also if like to know which contour stick color is best for for my shade? Reply Sarah February 2, 2017 at 2:32 pm Hi Nancy, given the Too Faced Natural Beige, you’re almost an in between ABH Warm Natural and ABH Tan. That said, the lighter shade which is Warm Natural might be easier to work with as you can adjust the color with bronzers or contour. Contour color in the shade Fawn would be perfect with Warm Natural. Because they’re the same formula, you can even mix it into the foundation to deepen the color if need be. Hope that makes sense :) Reply Nancy February 2, 2017 at 2:44 pm Thank you so much!:) I’ll definitely try warm natural with fawn! Reply Sydney January 27, 2017 at 10:37 pm Hi! I am in between shades 360 and 355 in Maybellines fit me foundation. What shade here would match best for me? Reply Sarah January 28, 2017 at 3:49 am Hi Sydney, ABH Amber or Walnut are closer to the Maybelline colors you mentioned (Walnut being the darker of the two). Reply Rafiah January 27, 2017 at 10:24 pm HI i wear nars sheeer glow in santa fe. It matches my face perfectly apart from my forehead which is a bit darker. Which shade do you think would be best for me? Reply Sarah January 28, 2017 at 3:40 am Hi Rafiah, ABH Beige would be the closest shade/undertone to Santa Fe. Reply Brittany January 23, 2017 at 8:43 pm Hello there! I’m so glad I stumbled upon this article. So I wear NW15 so I’m leaning towards the Porcelain shade. I believe that will fit me best. But I’m also looking for one for contouring and have no idea which color to use. I usually contour not too dark but not to subtle either. (Hope that makes sense) Every time I’ve bought any kind of cream contour it comes out orangey. Reply Sarah January 24, 2017 at 2:51 am Hi Brittany, welcome to the blog! Yes you’re right, ABH Porcelain would be the closest shade to NW15. For contour, ABH Shadow is the lightest contour color with cool undertones (which would prevent that orange-shade problem for you). Just make sure to start light, blend really well and build as needed. Hope that helps :) Reply Brittany January 24, 2017 at 3:00 am Yes it did! Thank you very much :) Reply sandra January 14, 2017 at 10:05 am Hello! First off, im thankful that i stumbled on this and got the chance to read through the comments. You are so kind to help everyone out. I dont really know much about undertones so im hoping you’ll be able to dish some good advice on my shade for this stick. Im thinking im a warm natural but could be wrong. I currently wear KvD medium 54 And ud pressed powder in medium neutral. But also got matched at mac twice(different times of year) in nc 35 and nc 40. Nc 40 i think is too dark and almost orange/red/ pink. I was also matched in mu4e hd #117 but thats too light. I wear the kvd more. I really hope you’ll be able to help! Im also hispanic if that helps. Thank you SO much Reply sandra January 14, 2017 at 10:09 am I also wear the ud naked concealer in medium which pretty much matches with my skin and kvd. Reply Sarah January 14, 2017 at 11:23 am Hi Sandra, welcome to the blog. Going by the colors you mentioned, you seem to be the same shade as me – ranging between a MAC NC30-35. Closest ABH match to this is Warm Natural indeed. As a side note, you’d be a warm/olive undertone and if you ever repurchase the MUFE HD, old formula #127, new ultra HD formula #123=Y365 is a perfect match. Hope that helps :) Reply sandra January 14, 2017 at 7:46 pm Thank you so much! I really appreciate your quick reaponse. Super helpful! Can’t wait to place my order. Reply Ruth January 16, 2017 at 5:54 pm Hi I use Too faced foundation in sand and it fits really well what color would I be? Reply Sarah January 21, 2017 at 4:37 pm Hi Ruth, ABH Tan would be the closest match Reply Rosaa January 13, 2017 at 5:03 pm Hi, I am shade NC37 in mac studiofix fluid and shade 6.0 in urban decay all nighter.. what foundation shade would be good for me? Thanks in advance. Reply Sarah January 14, 2017 at 6:04 am Hi Rosaa, there’s not a perfect ABH match for NC37 but given the Urban Decay #6 is closer to MAC NC40 and the undertones, ABH Warm Tan would probably be the closest match. Reply Mayra January 13, 2017 at 11:18 am I wear warm beige from too faced born this way. I tried from the abh honey, & caramel but they were too dark caramel seems the closet but still a little dark maybe for when I have a tan. Which one would be my color? Reply Mayra January 13, 2017 at 11:27 am I also wear tan honey from tarte Amazonian clay foundation. Reply Sarah January 13, 2017 at 1:38 pm Hi Mayra, based on the Born This Way Warm Beige and Tarte Tan Honey, your closest ABH color would actually be Tan. However, you mentioned ABH Honey and Caramel were both too dark which are quite different in color from another. Just as a guideline ABH Honey is in the Medium category, Caramel is in the Medium Dark category with quite a few shades in between them. Again, based on the other brand foundations you’re using, your closest ABH match would be Tan; if you prefer to go one shade lighter than ABH Caramel, then ABH Warm Tan would be the closest option. Reply Dalya January 8, 2017 at 7:25 pm Hi! I have the Anastasia cream contour kit, medium. I want the colors nude and cream but in the stick fondation, which color should I pick? Reply Sarah January 9, 2017 at 4:25 am Hi Dalya, I’m not sure of color conversions from the contour kits so it’s best to contact Anastasia customer service to check with them :) Reply Ellie January 4, 2017 at 10:45 pm This foundation sounds perfect! In love with what I’ve experienced from ABH, so would love to try this. I wear Estee Lauder double wear in Shell, although it’s a perhaps a tad too pale for me, do you know what ABH shade would be my best match? Thanks! Reply Sarah January 5, 2017 at 12:19 pm Hi Ellie, ABH Alabaster would be the closest match to Shell. One shade up from that with same undertones is Porcelain if you prefer to try something a little darker. Hope that helps :) Reply Maisie January 4, 2017 at 9:22 pm In l’oréal infallible i am shade 30 honey. What colour of this foundation would be best on me? Reply Sarah January 5, 2017 at 12:14 pm Hi Maisie, are you in the US? The Infallible foundations usually range from the numbers 101 and up so I’m not sure what 30 Honey would be equivalent to in the range. If you have other brand foundations that match you well, (or if you can get color matched at a MAC counter and let me know your shade), I’ll be able to give you a better match. Reply Karolina January 4, 2017 at 8:08 am Hi, my perfect foundation shade is EX1 in 2.0. Which foundation’s shade from ABH would you recommend for me? Reply Sarah January 4, 2017 at 12:04 pm Hi Karolina, I’m not too familiar with the EX1 range. I had a quick look into it for you and I’m assuming you’re referring to their Invisiwear Liquid foundation? Their numbers seem to go F100, F200 and so on. If 2.0 (as you mentioned) is F200 in their numbering system, then ABH Warm Natural would be a close match. I couldn’t say for sure though so if there are any other foundations that match you well, please let me know as it’ll be easier for me to get an average of the colors and undertones. Reply monda January 4, 2017 at 2:35 am Hi! I’m a NC45 in Mac ! What color would you think matches that and also what would be a good color to use for contouring? Reply Sarah January 4, 2017 at 3:29 am Hi Monda, closest ABH match would be Amber. As for contour, if you prefer a more natural look, you can go with Fawn contour stick. If you like a more intense color that you can either sheer out or build up, Mink contour stick will give you a more prominent contour. Reply Sammy January 4, 2017 at 12:09 am Hi! Love this post! I really want to buy an ABH foundation shade but I’m not sure on my shade. I don’t want to buy a stick and have to pay loads for delivery if it’s the wrong shade! I’m a NW10 in Mac and 1C0 Shell in Estée Lauder Doublewear. Please can you help? Thanks so much! Reply Sarah January 4, 2017 at 3:22 am Hi Sammy! The closest ABH match with the undertones you’re currently using would be Alabaster. It was added to the line after the initial launch and is now available on the Anastasia website. Reply Emma January 3, 2017 at 9:03 pm Hi, Sarah, I wear Georgio Armani Luminous Silk in shade number 2, Estee Lauder double wear in 1N2 ecru and MUFE ultra hd stick foundation in 117=Y225, which abh stick do you thin would match me best? I’m literally so excited to find your blog!! it’s so nice of you to help other make up lovers out there like this!! Thanks again :) Reply Sarah January 4, 2017 at 3:17 am Hi Emma, welcome to the blog! Of the 3 foundations you mentioned, there’s a slight undertone difference between the Estee Lauder Ecru compared to Armani and MUFE colors. Estee Lauder is more of a neutral undertone (which you might find it turning slightly pink on you) compared to the Armani and MUFE (which are more warm undertones). Taking an average of all colors and given 2 out of 3 have warmer undertones, I think ABH Warm Porcelain will be the safest option. I hope that makes sense :) Reply Amber January 3, 2017 at 7:44 pm I have NW13 of mac, which collor do i need from the abh stick foundation? Reply Sarah January 4, 2017 at 2:52 am Hi Amber, your ABH color is actually in between Alabaster (lightest shade in the range) and Porcelain (which is one shade darker). If you use bronzer/contour, then I recommend you go for Alabaster as it’s easier to deepen the color of foundation than to lighten it. If the NW13 is slightly light on you, then go for Porcelain. Reply Katie B January 3, 2017 at 5:04 am Hi! I’m NW10 in Mac. What color would I be in the ABH stick? I’m dying to try one! Reply Sarah January 3, 2017 at 1:36 pm Hi Katie, the lightest available color with your undertones would be ABH Alabaster. It was added to the line after the initial set of colors came out and is now available on the Anastasia website :) Reply zaurath December 29, 2016 at 5:51 pm hai .. i use MAC studio fix NC 40 , which colour will b suitable for me? Reply Sarah December 30, 2016 at 1:37 am Hi ABH Tan is a close match :) Reply Priscilla December 27, 2016 at 11:07 pm Hi Sarah, Thank you so much for all your efforts with this post and for helping us all out in the comments! I have my own request – please could you confirm which shade I should get for both foundation and contour stick? For reference I am of Chinese ethnicity with light skin tone. I currently use the Make Up Forever Pro Finish Multi-Use Powder Foundation in shade 113. I was also matched to the revamped Water Blend Foundation in Y305 (though it was a really close call with Y245). I’ve been matched as NC20 in the past, in both Pro Longwear concealer and Studio Sculpt concealer – the Studio Fix Fluid is too yellow on me. Other matches include: Lancome Teint Miracle in 010 Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions in 02 Fresh Ivory Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation in 100 Ivory. Thank you! Reply Sarah December 28, 2016 at 4:16 am Hi Priscilla, thank you for the details you provided. Based on the average of all the colors you mentioned, ABH Warm Porcelain would be the closest match. This is taking into account your undertones – especially given that NC20 Studio Fix is slightly yellow on you. ABH Warm Porcelain is still warm undertones without the yellow component – if that makes sense. As for contour, the contour stick in Shadow will give you a natural finish without turning muddy. Hope that helps :) Reply Sameera December 26, 2016 at 1:56 pm Hi i am a nc45 in mac studio fix foundation what would be the closest abh foundation for me ???? Thank you Reply Sarah December 26, 2016 at 2:22 pm Hi Sameera, ABH Amber is a close match. Reply Josephine December 26, 2016 at 1:40 pm Hi Sarah, First of all, I love your blog and I’m stoked that I found it! Youre doing an amazing job girl! I wear the foundation bareMinerals by Bare Escentuals — barePRO Performance Wear Powder in Cardamom 23. I’m thinking my shade in ABH might be Chestnut or Golden but I’m not so sure. Also, what ABH stick foundation or which of the contour sticks would you recommend I use? I like using cooler tones for contouring because I feel it looks more natural on me. Thank you in advance :) Reply Sarah December 26, 2016 at 2:22 pm Hi Josephine! welcome to the blog and thank you so much for your kind words :) Based on the color you mentioned, the closest ABH equivalent would be Amber. Contour stick in Mink is a great cool toned shade which would give you a natural blend with this. That said, due to the formula difference between powder and liquid/cream foundations, colors can vary greatly once applied to the skin. If there are any other foundations preferably in a liquid or cream formula that match you well, please let me know as it’ll help get a better average of your undertones. Reply May December 25, 2016 at 2:55 pm Hi, I’m shade Punjab in Nars all day luminous weightless foundation which shade di you think I’d be in Abh stick foundation . Reply Sarah December 25, 2016 at 3:15 pm Hi May, you’re actually in between ABH Beige and Warm Natural. If you can let me know any other foundations that match you well, I’ll be able to narrow it down more for you. Reply May December 26, 2016 at 8:02 pm Ive got the Bobbi brown stick foundation I’m shade 3 but I’m not sure if that’s the best match Reply Sarah December 27, 2016 at 11:40 am Hi May, if that’s the case, it’s safer to refer back to my initial recommendation based on NARS Punjab. You can either purchase ABH Beige which will be slightly lighter than NARS Punjab or ABH Warm Natural which is slightly darker than Punjab. ABH Beige would be easier to work with if you bronze or contour as it’s more practical to deepen the color of foundation than to lighten it. Hope that helps :) Reply Jasmin December 11, 2016 at 10:29 am Hi normally I’m a C5 in Mac face and body foundation what would be a good math for me ? I have red undertones in my face and my chest have yellow undertones. what shade would I be in ABH stick I prefer to match my chest cause everything makes my face too red. What colors do I need for contouring I like the natural no makeup look. Reply Sarah December 24, 2016 at 2:42 pm Hi Sandy, given the foundations you’ve mentioned, the closest ABH match would be Chestnut. This is similar to a MAC NW45-46. For contour, especially that you’re after a natural look, I would recommend the color Ebony which is couple of shades darker. Here’s the video tutorial for the color Chestnut where they’re actually using Ebony as a contour: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGAnKdQTHzk Hope this helps :) Reply Juanita Officer December 9, 2016 at 7:26 am Hi, I wear Mac Studio Fix NC 20. Reply Sarah December 6, 2016 at 6:45 am Hi Mal, given the Bare Minerals color, you’re almost an in between shade within the ABH range; however taking into consideration the undertones, ABH Beige will probably be the closest option. Reply Calli November 29, 2016 at 2:19 am Hello Sarah! I wear MAC prolong wear in NC20, Hourglass Vanish foundation stick in buff, and MUFE invisible cover foundation in 3Y05. MUFE is probably the best match. The MAC and Hourglass are a touch too yellow. Which ABH foundation shade and contour shade would be best for me? Thank you! Reply Sarah November 29, 2016 at 8:26 am Hi Calli, ABH Warm Ivory would be a close match. It’s a warm undertone but not as yellow/olive as your other colors. Hope that helps :) Reply Violet December 2, 2016 at 12:58 am Hi I’ve been looking into getting the Anastasia stick foundation but I’m not too sure on the shade I should get. Currently I’ve been using MUFE HD foundation shade 118 Flesh and maybelline fit me matte + poreless shade 220 natural beige. Could anyone help me please? Thank you Reply Sarah December 2, 2016 at 3:15 am Hi Violet, there’s a substantial color difference between the MUFE 118 Flesh and Maybelline 220 Natural Beige; in fact even some difference in undertones so it’s hard to recommend the correct ABH color. Which of the two matches you perfectly and are there any other brands/foundations that are a perfect match? Reply Violet December 2, 2016 at 8:00 am The MUFE is lighter on me but I usually contour or bronze my face a little so it tans out the lightness and with the maybelline one i just contour. So they both work well but the maybelline one I have to work with less so that one haha :p Reply Sarah December 2, 2016 at 1:26 pm Thanks Violet :) That definitely makes more sense now. Cos I’m about a Maybelline 220 myself and my MUFE equivalent is #127 (or 123 in the new Ultra HD line) so I was a bit confused lol. Going by the Maybelline 220 shade, the closest ABH color with similar undertones would be Warm Natural. If you ever consider a contour stick to go with it, ABH Fawn compliments it really well. Hope that helps :) Violet December 3, 2016 at 12:03 am Awesome! Thank you so much Sarah :) and also for the contour colour I should use! Life saver hehe Sarah December 3, 2016 at 1:26 pm Happy to help Violet, enjoy your new products! :) Simone November 29, 2016 at 1:12 am Hi I am looking to get the foundation stick by anastasia but i have no clue what color i would be. I use the les beiges healthy glow foundation N30 from chanel. Was wondering if you could help me in picking an ABH foundation shade… I’m the shade NC35 in Mac studio fix and NC40 in Mac Pro longwear. I’m also the shade Honey in L’oreal true match however it comes out a bit peachy. I’m 225 in Maybelline Fit me and the shade Sand in Too Faced Born This Way matches quite well too. Which would you recommend for me? Thank you! :) Reply Sarah November 28, 2016 at 2:56 pm Hi Muneeba, based on majority of the foundations you mentioned, your closest ABH color would be Tan. As a side note, the Loreal True Match in Honey is a neutral undertone which is probably why you’re finding it’s throwing off peachy/pink shades. Try the number sequence that starts with W for Warm instead of N which is neutral. Hope that helps :) Reply HM November 28, 2016 at 9:38 pm Hello Sarah! I wear Bobbi Brown Stick Foundation in 4.5 Warm Natural. I have yellow and slight olive tones in my skin. What would be the best match for me in the ABH stick? Thank you! Reply Sarah November 29, 2016 at 7:43 am Hi, taking into account both the shade and the undertone, ABH Tan would be the closest match. Reply Michaela November 25, 2016 at 9:20 pm Hi! I am using the Mattifying foundation from Makeup Forever in shade 30, Porcelain. I would like to find a stick for highlight, and contour, but I am not sure what shades I should choose? Reply Sarah November 27, 2016 at 5:29 am Hi Michaela, your MUFE 30 Porcelain is close to Ivory shade in the ABH foundation range. Taking the undertones into consideration, the traditional Banana highlighter might be too yellow. Instead, you can go couple of shades lighter in the foundation – in your case this would be Alabaster foundation stick as a highlighter and Fawn contour stick would give you the flexibility to achieve natural contouring or build up intensity depending on your preference. Hope this helps. Reply Sarah November 25, 2016 at 12:27 pm Hi Amina, the ABH version of NARS Macao would definitely be too dark but given the average of all other foundations you mentioned, ABH Amber is the closest match :) Reply Priya December 25, 2016 at 1:50 pm What would be the best contour shade for ABH Amber? My perfect match was benefit playstick in jump rope until they discontinued it. Reply Sarah November 25, 2016 at 3:08 am Hi Farhana, I know it’s really hard buying foundation online. Unfortunately ABH sticks are only available via the ABH website at this stage. I’m not sure when they’ll hit the stores. Going by the colors you mentioned, you actually have a blend of neutral and warm tones in there which makes it hard to pinpoint what your true undertones are. Given an average of all 3 colors, ABH Honey is probably the closest match. How well does the MAC NW35 blend with your skin tone? Is it a perfect match or slightly pink? If you can give me some more detail, it’ll help narrow it down. By the way, not sure if the formula is the same but Benefit is bringing back the Playticks so keep an eye on their social media for announcements ;) Reply Farhana November 25, 2016 at 10:54 am Hi Sarah, It’s a perfect match the mac nw35 Reply Sarah November 25, 2016 at 12:23 pm Thanks Farhana, given the shade and undertones, ABH Honey is the closest match. I plan to buy online Reply Sarah November 24, 2016 at 7:37 am Hi Justine, I’m not familiar with the Groenland brand but based on your NARS foundation, ABH Beige would be a close match. Reply Ethelreda Nadia November 24, 2016 at 5:04 am I am so so so happy I found your blog!!! I usually wear Make Up Forever HD foundation in shade 123 and it’s a tiny bit lighter than my skintone. Which shade would you recommend for me? It’s so sad how I can never find a perfect match for myself. Thanks so much in advance!! ❤️ Reply Sarah November 24, 2016 at 7:08 am Hi Ethelreda Nadia, welcome to the blog! Can you confirm if you’re referring to Makeup Forever liquid or the stick foundation? And also just to make sure is it the old formula or the new Ultra HD formula – if you can let me know the exact name on the bottle. That’ll help me narrow things down for you. Thanks!! :) Reply Ethelreda Nadia November 24, 2016 at 10:26 am It’s the Ultra HD in liquid form. The shade is 123 = Y365. But like I’ve said earlier on, it’s a little light on me though it’s not that obvious because it almost matches my neck, but almost is never enough ? I’m also thinking of purchasing the contour stick, any recommendations on that as well? PPS; I appreciate it so much how you’re so committed into reaching out with your reader. Bless your beautiful heart ❤️ Reply Sarah November 24, 2016 at 11:27 am Awww thank you so much for your kind words! I really appreciate it :) ABH Warm Natural is the closest shade to MUFE 123/Y365. Typically I’d recommend half a shade darker (given the MUFE color is a bit light on you), but sticking with the same undertones, next shade up in ABH would be way too dark. Different brands and formulas always vary in color and finish so you may not even have the same problem with the ABH one. But in case you do, this is what I recommend: Seeing as you’re also after a contour color, Fawn contour stick is a good mid-tone shade to compliment Warm Natural foundation. They’re both the same formula so if you find Warm Natural to be a bit light (like your MUFE one), you can mix in a little bit of Fawn, which will help deepen the color for you. This way you have a contour color and a color adjuster all in the same product. Two birds, one stone kinda deal :) Hope that helps :) Reply Ethelreda Nadia November 25, 2016 at 1:42 am Thank you so much for the help, Sarah! I’m going to buy them during the Black Friday sale. I’ve seen some make up artists using ABH shade Amber for their contouring and they look amazing. Will my skintone suit the way they did? Sarah November 25, 2016 at 2:44 am my pleasure :) You can definitely utilize darker foundations for contouring. Personally, I’m a big advocate for using cool tones for contouring purposes which is why I usually recommend the contour sticks but if you’d like to try a darker foundation, then yes Amber would be a suitable option for Warm Natural foundation. Just make sure to start with a sheer layer and build from there as needed so it doesn’t turn too orange or muddy. Enjoy the sales! How crazy are they :) Leslie November 23, 2016 at 6:31 pm Hi, Sarah, I’m having a hard time trying to decide which shade would fit best for me. I use the NARS MED/DARK 3 CADIZ if you could please help me out. THANKS! Reply Sarah November 24, 2016 at 7:02 am Hi Leslie, ABH Amber is a close match to NARS Cadiz. There will always be slight variances between brands and formulas of course but Amber carries the most similar undertones to Cadiz. Hope that helps :) Reply Leslie November 24, 2016 at 2:53 pm You’re so awesome! Thank you so much, keep doing what you’re doing. XOXO Reply Josie November 23, 2016 at 4:42 am Hi Sarah, I’m having trouble finding out my shade for the stick foundation and unfortunately, they don’t sell Anastasia in my country. I’m in the shade Punjab for the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation and Alaska for the Nars Tinted Moisturizer. I’m also a NC25 or a NC30 in MAC Foundation. Would you recommend me a stick foundation shade? I plan to buy online :) Reply Sarah November 23, 2016 at 6:01 am Hi Josie, Given your existing foundations, ABH Beige is closest match to Punjab and MAC NC25. ABH stick foundations are only available via their site at the moment. Not sure when they’ll hit the stores. If you purchase from Nov 25th onwards, they have Black Friday sales and the stick foundations will be 20% off along with discounts on other products too ;) Reply Shakera November 23, 2016 at 4:29 am Hi there, im struggling to determine which shade will be perfect for me, i am 153 = y405 in MUFE ultra hd foundation Reply Sarah November 23, 2016 at 5:50 am Hi Shakera, are you referring to HD liquid or stick foundation cos the colors vary between formulas. Also, if there are any other brands that match you well, please let me know. It helps me narrow down your undertone. Reply Shakera November 23, 2016 at 11:16 pm HD in the sticks formula, i use nars all day foundation in punjab but thats a shade or two light for me and also Mac studio sculpt nw35 Reply Sarah November 24, 2016 at 6:50 am Thanks Shakera, the Makeup Forever foundation is in fact a warm undertone, whereas as MAC NW35 is a neutral undertone. So to be on the safe side taking both colors into account, ABH Tan is probably gonna be the closest match. Reply Shruti November 22, 2016 at 6:53 am Hi Sarah, just stumbled upon this post while looking up Anastasia shades! You’ve been such a great help! I’d be so grateful if I could have your opinion on which shade I should order. I use the MAC studio fix powder in NC42, their pro full coverage foundation compact in C40 (which is a little dull/muddy), and Estee Lauder Double Wear Liquid in 3W2 Cashew, which seems to be a good match as of now. Could you help me with a good vase colour match, and more importantly, which of the 3 contour sticks would work on me (for a natural but defined contour)? Thanks again! Reply Shruti November 22, 2016 at 6:54 am Base* colour match, sorry for the typo! Reply Sarah November 22, 2016 at 1:01 pm Hi Shruti, thank you for your kind words :) Based on the foundations you mentioned, ABH Warm Tan would be the closest match (especially to your Estee Lauder Cashew). As for contour, Fawn is a mid-tone shade which you can sheer out for a natural look, or build up for an intense contour without it getting too muddy. Hope that helps :) Reply Shruti November 22, 2016 at 1:35 pm That was so helpful, thankyou so much! Reply Brittany November 21, 2016 at 7:18 pm I am really glad I stumbled on your blog! I have been trying to find a good color match in the Anastasia foundation stick. I wear NC15 in MAC pro long wear and I wear .5 breeze in the Clinique beyond perfecting foundation. What would my color match be? Things tend to oxidize orange very bad on me. What about a good contour color? Should I be using a cool tone or warm tone contour? Thank you so much! Reply Sarah November 22, 2016 at 4:50 am Hi Brittany, welcome to the blog! Closest ABH match would be Warm Porcelain. For contour, I always recommend cool tones, so based on your overall coloring, lightest contour stick which is Shadow should give you plenty of flexibility (to go as light or intense as you prefer without turning muddy). If need be, a touch of bronzer or blush over the contour will help add color to your complexion. As for your concerns about foundations oxidizing on you, it’s usually a formula issue and long wearing formulas tend to oxidize more than regular formulas. MAC Prolongwear is an example of this which is probably why you might find it also oxidizes. I don’t think you’ll have this issue with the ABH sticks. Hope this helps :) Reply Naedjie November 21, 2016 at 6:04 am Hello, I wear NW48 Mac Powder foundation and Lancôme Teint Idole 24H in the shade 540 W(this shade is a little too yellow for me). Based on the colors you mentioned, you’re almost an in-between shade in the ABH range. You can either go with Warn Tan or Caramel. They’re the same undertone with a slight shade difference, Caramel being the darker of the two. I’m including video tutorials below for both colors so it’ll help you decide which color spectrum you feel is closer to your coloring. Reply Ashlyn Clapperton November 19, 2016 at 9:01 pm Hi Sarah, I was matched in shade NW13 in MAC studio fix fluid, could you help me find the perfect shade in the ABH foundation stick? Thank you so much? Reply Sarah November 20, 2016 at 4:45 am Hi Ashlyn, you’re a shade in between ABH Warm Alabaster (which is now available on their site) and Warm Porcelain – Warm Porcelain is a shade darker than Warm Alabaster. Do you find MAC NW13 matches you perfectly or is it slightly lighter or darker? If you can let me know, it’ll help me narrow down which ABH color would be closest to your color spectrum :) Sarah November 20, 2016 at 4:40 am My pleasure Dyanna; that’s a good idea cos it’s always easier to alter the color of a foundation with a bronzer than to try and lighten it. Please keep me posted :) Reply Ashlyn Clapperton November 20, 2016 at 2:14 pm Hi Sarah, NW13 it’s just the tiniest bit too light for me, but if I get warm alabaster I could warm it up with some bronzer. But doesn’t warm alabaster have yellow undertones? Because the lady at MAC said I had pink? Thanks Sarah November 20, 2016 at 4:53 pm Hi Ashlyn, my apologies, I was indeed meant to refer to ABH Alabaster or Porcelain for your neutral undertone, not the warm versions. Alabaster is the lightest shade available in the ABH range so you can definitely go for that and play up the color as you mentioned. Otherwise, just to give you a reference of color spectrum, Porcelain is close to a MAC NW15 which is literally a shade darker. Hope that helps, sorry about the confusion again :) Dyanna November 24, 2016 at 4:55 am Hi Sarah, So I’ve decided to get Caramel as well since ABH is having Black Friday’s sale. I mean, a girl can never have too many foundations, right? Anyway, I’m thinking to also get their concealer. Do you have any shade recommendation? I’m thinking 3.75. I wish I can check at my local Sephora…but they don’t carry ABH. Sarah November 24, 2016 at 6:34 am Hi Dyanna, good thinking indeed! There will be plenty of savings on their site so you may as well make the most of it :) With concealer, 3.5 will be a better match for Warm Tan and 3.75 is closer to Caramel foundation. If you get 3.5, it should cater for both foundation colors. It’ll match Warm Tan and although it’ll be slightly lighter with Caramel, it’ll have a brightening affect nevertheless. Hope that makes sense :) Aaliyah M. November 15, 2016 at 10:00 pm Hii Sarah , thank you so much for all details :) Love your Page! Can you please help me out.. i’m in the shade C5 face and body foundation from mac and 5 Honey in bobbi brown skin foundation Reply Donna November 16, 2016 at 1:21 am Hi Sarah I’m currently using born this way warm nude what would be my Abh match? I’m thinking warm natural? Also a highlight and contour please I also use nars sheer glow in Santa Fe :) thankyou X Reply Sarah November 16, 2016 at 4:01 am Hi Donna, based on your Born This Way Warm Nude, you would indeed be Warm Natural in the ABH range. Banana highlighter stick and Fawn contour stick complement this color really well. That said, you also mentioned you use NARS Sheer Glow in Santa Fe which is a completely different undertone. If you’re confident Born This Way is a perfect match for you, then the colors I listed above is what would suit your coloring. If however, NARS is the perfect match, please confirm it with me so I can change my recommendations accordingly :) **I myself am Warm Nude in Born This Way, Warm Natural in ABH but my NARS Sheer Glow match is Stromboli which carries the same undertones. Hope that makes sense :) Reply Donna November 16, 2016 at 12:58 pm Thankyou Sarah You know what I just got this shade of born this way yesterday I was using natural beige 1 shade darker then I though maybe bit dark I’ll go 1 lighter I’m still not satisfied possibly still bit dark I really don’t know my shade I just go with what the staff say then always feel it’s wrong. And mac matched me nw20 which I’ve hardly used feel it’s not right either they are all different arnt they. Reply Sarah November 16, 2016 at 4:13 pm Finding the right foundation can definitely be a challenge. MAC NW20 and Nars Santa Fe are almost identical but they’re a neutral undertone compared to Too Faced Warm Nude which is a warm undertone. The only thing I can recommend is: apply Warm Nude to one side of your face and MAC NW20 on the other. Try to blend it into your jawline but don’t bring it down your neck. Let both foundations settle on your skin for about 15mins. Then check both sides in natural light. Whichever side seems to disappear better into your skin and matches your neck is the best option. Feel free to report back your results and I’ll try to narrow it down for you :) Donna November 17, 2016 at 4:32 am Hey Sarah thanks again Ok I did what you said I feel nude by nature is better then mac nw20 but yet still feel it’s a little orange on me :/ like a tone to orange Not sure where that leaves me Thanks again Sarah November 17, 2016 at 6:02 am Hi Donna, I notice you mentioned “nude by nature”; you mean Too Faced Warm Nude right? If Warm Nude looked better than NW20 but still slightly darker or orange, then I’m pretty confident that you can go half a shade lighter with ABH. Given the info at hand, I feel ABH Cool Beige would be a better option. This is about a MAC 25 on the color spectrum. Basically we’re going for a shade in between MAC 20 and Too Faced Warm Nude (which is about a MAC 30 equivalent). I hope that’s not too confusing :) With your highlighter and contour colors, still stick to the previous suggestions of Banana and Fawn. These are exactly the same formula as the foundation sticks so you can actually mix them into your foundation to adjust the color if need be. As an example, if you feel the foundation is looking slightly pink or orange (although I doubt it will), you can mix in some of your Banana stick in there to neutralize the color. If it’s too light (again, shouldn’t be), you can mix in a little bit of the Fawn contour to darken it. This will also be helpful if your skin tone changes seasonally. So it’s ABH Cool Beige Foundation, Banana highlighter and Fawn contour. I think this set of colors will give you a good starting point :) Please keep me posted! Nala November 17, 2016 at 2:28 pm hi sarah am finding it difficult to figure out what shade i am on ABH foundation stick , i use nars luminous wear shade Barcelona and i am nc45 in mac pro wear foundation ….help please Reply Sarah November 17, 2016 at 4:06 pm Hi Nala, although they both have warm undertones, Nars Barcelona is considerably lighter than MAC NC45. Is one better matching for you than the other? or do you use both depending on seasons (tanned or not) If you can confirm, it’ll help me narrow it down for you :) Nala November 17, 2016 at 9:47 pm the mac is more of orange on me so nars is a perfect match for me so which shade on the abh would you recoomend please and thank you so much in advance Sarah November 18, 2016 at 3:39 am Hi Nala, in that case ABH Warm Tan would be the closest match to your NARS Shade. Sarah November 16, 2016 at 3:45 am Hi Aaliyah, based on the two foundations you mentioned, closest ABH match would be Warm Tan :) Reply S November 15, 2016 at 5:33 pm Hi! Reply Nour November 13, 2016 at 4:01 pm Hi I am Soooo happy to find your blog , i wish i can find help here! unfortunately i tried many drugstore foundations and it doesn’t fit me as i have oily acne prone skin, yet maybeline fit me shade ivory 115 is nice , which shade would fit me in ABH please ? And if i used a darker shade would it help to cover redness and acne ? Reply Sarah November 13, 2016 at 4:45 pm Hi Nour! happy to have you on the blog too :) Based on your Maybelline color, the closest ABH match would be Porcelain. Depending on the level of redness you experience, I would recommend color correcting. Correctors with a green undertone help cancel out the redness completely so when you apply the foundation on top, everything is even. As for acne, I’m not sure if you’re referring to acne marks and scars like dark pigmentation spots? or do you mean red acne spots (which again, you can treat with green color correctors). I’ve covered Color Correcting (and product options) in detail in my post below which you might find helpful. Please let me know if you have any questions Color Correcting: http://beautypointofview.com/product-series-color-correctors/ Reply Nour November 13, 2016 at 5:23 pm Thanks a million “The color correctors” post helps ALOT ! I am really excited to try porcelin from ABH and the green corrector as well , hope to have a natural look .. Reply Sarah November 14, 2016 at 3:55 am glad to be of help Nour! I currently wear Estee Lauder Fresco and have had Mac NW20 in the past if that helps? Which foundation and contour shade would you recommend? Thanks :) Reply Sarah November 13, 2016 at 11:40 am Hi Becky! Welcome to the blog! Based on the foundations you mentioned, your closest ABH match would be Ivory :) Reply Smeaha November 14, 2016 at 8:57 pm Hi sarah i am soo glad i have come across your blog Please could you advise the best abh foundation stick for me as i am yellow undertoned and my current foundations i use are makeup for ever hd stick in 123 and the loreal true match in w4 natural beige ( i am trying to find the best foundation which is yellow toned Hope to hear from you Reply Sarah November 15, 2016 at 6:30 am Hi Smeaha! good to have you on the blog too! Yours is an easy one cos you’re the same color/undertone as me. Closest ABH match is Warm Natural. If you consider getting a highlight/contour color too, Banana highlighter stick and Fawn contour stick compliment Warm Natural perfectly. Hope that helps :) Reply smeaha November 22, 2016 at 11:48 pm Thankyou soon much for replying i cant wait to place my ABH order now XD excited LOL! thankyou atleast now i know if i ever need more advice who to come to as we both have the same undertones much appreciated sarah xx Sarah November 23, 2016 at 2:59 am Happy to help Smeaha :) If you place order from Nov 25th, you’ll get 20% off stick foundations and further discounts on most other Anastasia products for Black Friday. Brandi November 7, 2016 at 9:46 pm This is an amazing blog. I use NARS sheer glow in Syracuse. Can you let me know what shade I would be for highlight contour and foundation? Thanks Reply Sarah November 8, 2016 at 4:47 am Hi Brandi, welcome to the blog! Your closest ABH match would be Warm Tan. Given that this color is in the Medium color category, Banana highlighter stick and Fawn contour stick would give you a good balance of shades. Hope that helps :) Reply Faaria November 6, 2016 at 5:33 am Hi Sarah. Thank you for helping out. I have been wanting to order ABH foundations but didn’t know how i can match it. You have certainly made it a lot easier for me. I am currently using NC25 mineralize foundation. I also use NC30. While NC25 matches the skin tone, NC30 is a bit warmer for my skin tone but the result from Nc30 is more smooth and even out than NC25. I do get tan easily though. What do you suggest for foundation and contour/highlight as well. Thanks so much Reply Sarah November 6, 2016 at 1:44 pm Hi Faaria, based on what you mentioned, especially the fact that you tan easily, I’m thinking NC30 equivalent might be the better option which is ABH Warm Natural. Seeing as you’re also wanting highlight/contour colors and they’re the same formula as the foundation sticks, you can always adjust the color of your foundation by mixing in some of the highlight shade (if need be). Given that you’re a warm undertone, the Banana stick for highlight and Fawn for contour will match your overall coloring. Hope that helps :) Reply Faaria November 7, 2016 at 3:09 am Thank you so much. It really helped :) Reply Sara November 7, 2016 at 9:24 pm Hi, thank you for helping out! So happy I found this page! I was wondering what ABH foundation stick color you think would be the best match for me.. I have the color cool sand 2.25 in Bobbi brown foundation stick and in Urban Decay’s naked skin (weightless ultra definition liquid makeup) I’ve got the shade 2.5. I would like to order a foundation stick that would match my skin, also a ABH stick for contouring. What shade do you think would suite me? Thank you again! :) Reply Sarah November 8, 2016 at 4:38 am Hi Sara, welcome to the blog! Given the foundations you mentioned, the closest ABH match with neutral undertones would be Ivory. Please keep in mind, both the Bobbi Brown Cool Sand and Urban Decay 2.5 are in between shades (meaning they have been added to the original range to cater for minor color differences). The ABH one may not be 100% exact match to these but close enough. As for contour color, Ivory foundation being in the Fair category, the lightest of the contour sticks which is Shadow would give you a natural look without turning too muddy ;) Reply Rooza November 5, 2016 at 9:44 pm Hi there I use MAC NC42 studiofix.. would like to know which shade would suit me best fromt he stick foundation…i have yellow undertones. Also which contour shade would be better for me? Thanks :) Reply Sarah November 6, 2016 at 5:16 am Hi Rooza, ABH Warm Tan is a close match to NC42. Contour color in Fawn is a good mid tone shade to match this foundation – which you can either sheer down or build up depending on your preferred intensity. Reply Brittany Little November 4, 2016 at 5:26 pm Hi! I’m trying to find my shade in the ABH foundation stick. I wear NC50 in MAC studio fix fluid and that is the best matching foundation I have at the moment. I’m thinking my color would be Chestnut in the ABH foundation, but I’m not sure. Is Chestnut the right shade for me? Reply Sarah November 6, 2016 at 5:13 am Hi Brittany, ABH Walnut is the closest match to NC50 as it has yellow undertones. Chestnut is lighter and has neutral undertones :) Reply Ann November 2, 2016 at 7:55 pm I wear too faced born this way foundation in the color sand. what foundation stick color best matches that? Reply Sarah November 3, 2016 at 3:44 pm Hi Ann, ABH Tan would be the closest shade with similar undertones. Reply Karen S October 31, 2016 at 9:50 pm Hi! Sarah? I use too faced born this way foundation in nude . which ABH foundation stick would match me? An Reply Karen S October 31, 2016 at 9:52 pm And what contour stick? Reply Sarah November 1, 2016 at 3:02 am Hi Karen, with your neutral undertones in the Too Faced Born This Way foundation, ABH Natural would be the closest match. For contour, Fawn would give you the flexibility to sheer it out for a natural look or build up to intense contour without getting muddy. Reply Jacqueline October 29, 2016 at 8:48 pm Hi I have from MAC the NW25 Studio Sculpt Foundation. What color shade do I need with ABH Foundation stick? And what color can I use to contrue? Reply Sarah October 30, 2016 at 4:07 pm Hi Jacqueline, ABH Beige is a close match to MAC NW25. The contour stick in Shadow would give you just enough depth without turning muddy. Hope this helps :) Reply Jacqueline October 30, 2016 at 10:29 pm Ok beige as a foundation and shadow to contour and what color can I take to highlight. You have helped me a lot thanks :-) Reply Sarah October 31, 2016 at 6:50 am If you want a brightening effect, you can try the Banana highlighter – however this is quite yellow so it “might” clash a bit with your neutral undertone. For a more natural highlight, lighter foundations with the same undertones would work well – Warm Porcelain (one shade lighter) or Warm Alabaster (lightest shade in the range). Really depends on how intense you prefer your highlight to be :) Reply Bee October 26, 2016 at 7:12 pm Hi there! you’ve been such a help with all these ladies. i really want this foundation stick but unsure of my colour, and i cant try it on due to not having a sephora or anastasia store here! my current foundation colour is chanel 50 beige. thank you! xo Reply Sarah October 27, 2016 at 2:55 am Thanks Bee! Which Chanel foundation is it? Also, are there are any other brands that match you well? It helps average out undertones :) Reply Ashleigh October 25, 2016 at 5:27 pm I am shade porcelain in the Bobbi brown foundation stick what would I be in the ABH one? Reply Sarah October 26, 2016 at 8:51 am Hi Ashleigh, are there any other foundations that match you well? It’ll help me narrow down your undertone. Thanks!! :) Reply Ashleigh October 26, 2016 at 12:11 pm I match well in mac match master shade 1.0 and double wear in shade cool bone although the double wear is a bit too pink. Reply Sarah October 27, 2016 at 2:50 am Thanks Ashleigh! that definitely helped. Seeing as Double Wear is a bit pink on you, I just worked off Bobbi Brown and MAC so ABH Porcelain would be the closest to match to these. Hope that helps :) Reply Valerie October 23, 2016 at 2:03 pm Wow I’m so glad I found this page I have looking at tons videos online and pictures of swatches trying to figure out what colour to order. My best match right now is estee lauder double wear in tawny which I see you say is warm natural. However I find tawny to be smidgen yellow / Orange when compared to the rest of my body. Would natural be better? Here are some other foundations I have: UD Naked skin in 5.0 (a bit pink on me) and lancome teint idole ultra 230 Buff w (too light). Thank you for all your help. Reply Sarah October 23, 2016 at 4:21 pm Hi Valerie, welcome to the blog :) Out of the foundations that you listed, Estee Lauder Tawny and Lancome 230 Buff have warm/yellow undertones. The UD Naked #5 is a beige with rose undertones which would explain why it’s turning slightly pink on you. So the average of all these foundations indicate to me that you’re warm undertone. Taking all 3 foundations into consideration, I still think ABH Natural would be a good choice. I know you mentioned Estee Lauder Tawny is slightly orange on you but it’s also a completely different formula and being a long wearing foundation, it could also be oxidizing on your skin. I’m sure ABH Warm Natural won’t turn orange cos it’s got warm olive undertones (no reds or pinks). If you still want to try a neutral undertone however, ABH Natural would be the next option. Hope that helps :) Reply Valerie October 23, 2016 at 8:17 pm Thanks for the reply. I have some olive undertones so warm natural sounds perfect. Reply Tara October 24, 2016 at 7:45 pm I wear fairly medium in Bare Minerals and warm silk in Jane Iredale. What color would I be in ABH? Reply Sarah October 25, 2016 at 9:35 am Hi Tara, I’m not familiar with the Jane Iredale range so I can’t make recommendations on that. I also need to know the full name of the Bare Minerals product – whether it’s their liquid foundation, powder foundation etc. Reply Tsering October 21, 2016 at 7:29 pm Hi Sarah! I’m 4n2 spiced sand in Estée Lauder Double Wear. I was wondering what foundation would be the closest color. Thank you! Reply Sarah October 22, 2016 at 8:29 am Hi Tsering, given the undertones of 4n2 Spiced Sand, closest ABH match would be Caramel. Here’s a video tutorial of this color: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBBO6GYfloA Reply Tsering October 22, 2016 at 8:01 pm Thank you! Reply Bez October 21, 2016 at 11:08 am Hi I’m a shade beige 3 in Bobby brown what colour would I be in the abh foundation stick nd I live in the U.K. Where can I buy these t the best price from thank you Reply Bez October 21, 2016 at 11:09 am In the foundation stick in Bobby brown !! Sorry Reply Sarah October 21, 2016 at 3:20 pm Hi Bez, the Bobbi Brown Beige is somewhere between ABH Ivory (fair category) and Beige (light category). It’s a very minor difference in shade but it’s hard to pin point which you should go for. The only thing I can suggest is: If your BB foundation is lighter on your skin, go for ABH Beige, if it’s slightly darker, go for ABH Ivory. If there are any other brand foundations that match you well, let me know and that would also help me narrow it down for you. ABH stick foundations are only available on the ABH website at the moment. As far as I know they offer international shipping :) Reply Danica October 20, 2016 at 10:05 am Hi! I’m a NC15 in MAC pro longwear foundation, what shade would match me? Reply Sarah October 20, 2016 at 5:11 pm Hi Danica, ABH Porcelain is a close match to MAC NC15 range. One is neutral, the other is warm. If you can let me know which of the two matches you the best, I’ll be able to narrow it down for you better ;) Reply ebony October 19, 2016 at 5:27 am nars mont blanc matches perfectly ? Reply Sarah October 19, 2016 at 8:23 am Thanks Ebony :) In that case ABH Warm Porcelain would be the closest match. As for highlight, usually I would recommend the Banana highlighter but that would look too yellow for your undertones which is why it’s better to utilise a lighter foundation color instead. Anastasia just launched 2 new foundation colors Alabaster and Warm Alabaster which are the lightest in the range. Sticking to your undertones, Warm Alabaster would provide you with a natural highlight without turning too yellow or white on you. In terms of contour, the color Shadow is the lightest contour stick with cool undertones so it will give you the shading you need. Hope that helps :) Reply Marley October 17, 2016 at 9:54 am Hi, i have Nars all day luminous weightless foundation in Deauville (light 4) what would i be in the ABH stick foundation? thanks x Reply Sarah October 17, 2016 at 1:19 pm Hi Marley, ABH Warm Ivory should be a close match to Deauville. Reply Megan October 17, 2016 at 4:35 am Hi just wondering if you could help me pick what shade I would be in the ABH foundation sticks, I suit Nars sheer glow in mont blanc perfectly as I have pink undertones, if you could help me out that would be great! This post was really helpfull thanks Reply Sarah October 17, 2016 at 5:15 am Hi Megan, ABH Warm Porcelain would be a close match to Mont Blanc as it has neutral undertones also :) Reply Farah October 16, 2016 at 8:46 pm Hi just wanted to check what shade I would be i am an NC35 and Tawny in Estee Lauder could you please let me know many thanks xx Reply Sarah October 17, 2016 at 3:32 am Hi Farah, I’m about a NC30-35 myself and the closest ABH match to that is Warm Natural. Reply Amna October 14, 2016 at 7:29 pm Hi Sarah! You’re such a great help to everyone as confused as I am!! So I wear a Mac nc37 (nc40 is too dark on me) also I’m a gorgio Armani luminous silk 5.75 that’s a perfect match. Do I get golden or warm natural or even tan?? Reply Sarah October 14, 2016 at 11:52 pm Hi Amna! Unfortunately there’s not an exact match for NC37. ABH Tan is a close match to NC40 so that will probably be too dark on you also. Given your Armani foundation color, I think your safest option would be Warm Natural, especially in terms of undertones. Reply Amna October 15, 2016 at 4:44 am Thank u so much!! Just ordered warm Natural :) lots of love! Reply Sarah October 15, 2016 at 6:37 am My pleasure!! Enjoy your new foundation :) Reply susan October 14, 2016 at 12:52 pm I normally use Lancome 230 Buff W, which Anastasia stick foundation do you think would be closest to that? Reply Sarah October 14, 2016 at 1:11 pm Hi Susan, assuming you’re referring to the Teint Idole Ultra 24hr formula, closest ABH match would be Cool Beige. Reply Valerie October 14, 2016 at 8:08 am Hi Sarah! I need helping finding a foundation color as well as a highlight and contour color!! In the Makeup Forever Mat Velvet+ I am #30. And in the Too Faced Born This Way foundation I am porcelain. I hope you can help!! Thank you! Reply Sarah October 14, 2016 at 10:07 am Hi Valerie, the MUFE Matte Velvet #30 and Too Faced Porcelain are slightly different undertones; in fact Porcelain may even be a bit lighter than MUFE when swatched side by side. Can you tell me which of the two matches you the best? It’ll help me narrow it down :) Reply Valerie October 14, 2016 at 6:17 pm Well I was color matched with the MUFE #30 and it matches pretty well! Reply Sarah October 14, 2016 at 11:41 pm Thanks Valerie, in that case ABH Warm Ivory will be the closest match given the undertones. You also asked about highlight and contour. For contour, you can go with the color Shadow. It’s a cool tone color and it’s buildable without looking too muddy. For highlight, you can try Banana which will have a brightening effect; or go for a lighter foundation stick such as Warm Alabaster (now available on the ABH site) which is couple of shades lighter than ABH Warm Ivory foundation with similar undertones. This will provide a more natural highlight. Really depends on your preference. Reply Aaron Dye October 14, 2016 at 4:21 am Hi I am curious if you can help me in trying to find my shade in the ABH Stick Foundation. These are the current shades that I am in various foundations. Kat Von D: Medium 53 Warm Chanel Perfection Lumiere: 70 Beige Chanel Perfection Luimere Velvet: 70 Beige Dior Airflash: 400 Too Faced: Sand Reply Sarah October 14, 2016 at 5:54 am Hi Aaron, based on your foundation list, you’re almost an in between ABH Warm Natural and Tan. As a reference point, Warm Tan is closer to Kat Von D Medium 53 and Tan is closer to Too Faced Sand so it really depends on which of the two foundations you use match your overall coloring better. If you’ve ever used a MAC foundation or you’re able to get color matched at a MAC counter and let me know your shade, I’ll be able to narrow it down more for you. Reply sameera October 13, 2016 at 9:47 am Hi Sarah, I am a shade nc25 in mac and shade punjab in nars foundation. would coulour ABH foundation do you think will match my skin tone? Reply Sarah October 13, 2016 at 3:54 pm Hi Sameera, ABH Cool Beige is a close match. You may already know NARS Punjab is a tad lighter than the MAC NC25; the ABH Cool Beige is closer to NC25 spectrum. Hope that helps :) Reply Nuri October 12, 2016 at 10:06 am Hi Sarah, I found your blog post very helpful and informative, so thank you for that. I was thinking of ordering these foundation sticks myself but I am confused between Caramel and Amber. I currently use the Nars Sheer Glow foundation in Tahoe, which matches me perfectly during the summer but it is currently slightly dark for me now that we’re heading into winter. I believe that is NC44/45 in Mac? I have medium to tan skin with a warm undertone. Which shade do you think would suit me the best from ABH? Reply Sarah October 12, 2016 at 12:03 pm Hi Nuri, thank you so much for your kind words :) Based on NARS Sheer Glow in Tahoe, ABH Caramel would be the closest match especially in terms of undertones. As for winter months, Warm Tan would give you a slightly lighter finish but still keep within similar undertones to Caramel. *Based on the ABH color categories you would be in MEDIUM category with Warm Tan during winter months and MEDIUM TAN category with Caramel during summer. I hope that makes sense :) Reply Nuri October 12, 2016 at 4:39 pm Thank you so much for you response, Sarah. You have been a great help. Keep up the good work. Reply Jessica Donald October 12, 2016 at 9:38 am Hiya! I’m so excited to try these but as I’m in the uk it’s hard to figure out the shade I am… I currently use Estée Lauder Doublewear in the shade Desert Beige and when I’m tanned I mix in Clinique Beyond Perfecting in Neutral.. I went to Mac recently and got matched to NC35 in Studio Fix I think I have a bit of a pinky undertone so the lady said the NC35 would balance that out…. would you happen to know a shade closest to these for the ABH Sticks? I’m also going to Australia for a year soon so I’ll be getting a bit of a tanned face :-/ sorry to bother you but your replies seem so knowledgeable would love to hear your opinion. Xx Reply Sarah October 12, 2016 at 11:51 am Hi Jessica! I’m glad you mentioned your MAC match. I’m a MAC NC30-35 myself so I know ABH Warm Natural is the closest match. This color will run slightly darker than your Estee Lauder Desert Beige but given that you’ve already been matched at the MAC counter, I’m confident it will be fine. As for when you’re tanned, it’s hard to recommend a darker color foundation as tanning can affect undertones and of course it depends on just how dark you get etc. Instead, I would highly recommend you invest in a good matte bronzer and bronze around the perimeter of your face, across the bridge of your nose and forehead (where you would naturally tan). The ABH Warm Natural foundation will keep the center of your face slightly brighter and the bronzer give you plenty of dimension and color everywhere else to match your body. Seeing as we’re the same shade, I highly recommend NARS Laguna or Too Faced Chocolate Soleil (Dark Chocolate) bronzers. They’re both matte and apply beautifully. I hope this helps. Enjoy your time in Australia!! :) Reply Rellanie October 10, 2016 at 11:01 pm Hi! I was wondering if I could get some help. I’m a MAC studio fix in NC42, what shades should I get for foundation base and as a contour shade? Reply Sarah October 11, 2016 at 4:23 am Hi Rellanie! ABH Warm Tan is a close match to NC42. As for contour, Fawn would be a good mid-tone shade. Hope that helps :) Reply Marwa October 9, 2016 at 9:42 pm Hi sarah , i’m makeup for ever hd foundation Y455 , which shade do you think matches that ?? Reply Sarah October 10, 2016 at 4:32 am Hi Marwa, the MUFE HD Y455 is a bit of an in-between shade. Typically it would be a blend of ABH Amber and Walnut. However, given the yellow undertone of MUFE foundations, the safer option would be Amber for you. It “might” be slightly lighter in color but the undertone will match you better. You can always bronze it up if need be. I hope that makes sense, let me know if you have any questions :) Reply fatima October 8, 2016 at 5:40 pm Hi Sarah! I need help figuring out what my shade is! i use Nars foundation in Macao & MAC powder in NC46 please help! Reply Sarah October 8, 2016 at 6:39 pm Hi Fatima, the MAC equivalent of NARS Macao is usually NC50 (even though the powder numbers run slightly different which is why NC46 matches you better in powder form). The closest match to these in the ABH range is Walnut. Here’s a video tutorial for this color: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOKonm-fn6o Reply fatima October 8, 2016 at 7:04 pm Thank you so much! Reply Sam A October 8, 2016 at 5:34 am Hi, Im looking at ordering online from Australia but we dont have any stores that carry ABH to try. I normally use Esteé Lauder double wear 3W2-Cashew or 3W1-Tawny (can be muddy sometimes). I’ve been told I’m medium with yellow undertones, also maybe a but olive. I tan quiet easily in summer and lighter in winter maybe you could suggest a different shade for the seasons and all rounder tha would suit my colouring. :) Thanks Reply Sarah October 8, 2016 at 9:56 am Hi Sam, because you mentioned 3W1 Tawny can turn muddy at times, I’m going to play it safe and use 3W2 Cashew as a guide. Closest ABH match to this color is Tan – which is within the medium range with warm/yellow undertones. It’s hard to recommend colors for different seasons as tanning can bring about different undertones and also depends on how dark you get etc. That said, if we use ABH Tan as your regular color, ABH Golden would be lighter with similar undertones and ABH Caramel would be on the darker spectrum with similar undertones. Hope that helps :) Reply Sam A October 9, 2016 at 1:42 am Thank you Sarah, Looking forward to trying them out :) Reply Fatima October 7, 2016 at 5:45 pm Hi Sarah I was wondering if could help me find the right shade. Your Loreal True Match in W5 is probably a little neutral/pink compared to your Maybelline 220. So keep in mind the ABH Warm Natural will have a similar undertone to the Maybelline – slightly more warm and golden. Hope that helps; let me know if you have any other questions :) Reply Maria October 6, 2016 at 9:31 pm I actually meant to write N5 for loreal true match!! Sorry! Does that change anything?? Reply Sarah October 7, 2016 at 4:52 am Hi Maria, OK, I hope this explanation will make sense: The W series in Loreal stands for Warm undertone; the N series is for Neutral undertone. Your Maybelline 220 is Warm undertone. Loreal True Match W5 – as previously mentioned is also within the Warm category but not as yellow as the Maybelline 220 – which is why I recommended ABH Warm Natural cos it would still be similar undertones to both foundations. But now that I know your Loreal color is N5, it’s a totally different undertone to your Maybelline 220 which is where it gets a bit confusing. If you can let me know which of the two foundations match you exactly, or if you have any other brands that are a good match, maybe if you know what your MAC color is etc, let me know. That will help me determine your undertone. Reply Maria October 7, 2016 at 6:58 pm I figured that out but for some reason the undertones for them don’t seem so different. :/ But if i had to say it the N5 matches best. Sarah October 8, 2016 at 2:02 am In that case, based on the N5 being a neutral undertone, ABH Natural is the closest match to it. It’s a neutral equivalent of Warm Natural so there won’t be a huge color difference, just a an undertone tweak :) Please let me know if you have any other questions :) Lizmarin October 4, 2016 at 10:20 pm I wear philosophy miracle worker in shade 6, Shadado stick in b60, make up forever hd stick in 123=y365, ignot mw 101 Any suggestion for the Anastasia stick foundation, and contour ? Reply Sarah October 5, 2016 at 1:59 am Hi Lizmarin, I’m not too familiar with Philosophy or Shadado(?) foundations, but based on your MUFE HD color, closest ABH match is Warm Natural. Please keep in mind there will always be differences between brands but given MUFE’s undertones, Warm Natural is a better match than the lighter shades in the range. As for contour, Fawn is a good mid-tone cool shade which you can sheer down or build up as much as you need. Hope this helps :) Reply Tara October 3, 2016 at 1:55 pm Hi can you help me match my shade, I wear mac face & body C4. I naturally have quite sallow/olive skin that can be really pale in winter but I tan easily & tend to hold that tan quite well through winter. So I buy foundation in my tan range. Hoping this makes sense. So mac f&b in C4 – trying to match that Appreciate any help, thanks Tara Reply Sarah October 3, 2016 at 3:54 pm Hi Tara, I’m a C4 in MAC Face&Body myself so your ABH shade is Warm Natural :) Reply Tara October 3, 2016 at 7:09 pm Ahh brilliant. So pleased finally a same shader ! Thank you so much x Reply Tara November 2, 2016 at 12:39 pm Hi again, the shade above is perfect! Thought I’d let you know how it went :) I also purchased the MUFE foundation ultra hd stick in Y335 but this is too light… I wondered if you have tried this & which shade you found worked ? Thanks again Tara Reply Sarah November 2, 2016 at 4:17 pm Hi Tara! Thank you so much for the update. Glad to hear it all worked out for you :) I have the MUFE HD liquid foundation and that’s #127 which is indeed Y335 in the new numbering system. So, based on the liquid version you actually have the correct shade for your skin tone. However, due to formula difference, some of the shades in the stick foundations are different which is probably why it was slightly lighter on you. I don’t personally use the MUFE stick foundation myself but I’m forever in the loop with products so I’m familiar with the range. #123/Y365 Desert should be a better match for you. It’s still yellow undertone but slightly deeper in shade. Hope that helps :) Tara November 2, 2016 at 7:59 pm Brilliant thank you, I’ll let you know :) Nadya October 2, 2016 at 12:22 am Hi Sarah. Thanks for the article and the color wheel of the foundation. I’ve been looking to add this ABH foundation to my collection but there is no Sephora nearby that stocks up ABH. I use Bobbi Brown liquid foundation in Honey (5) and Bobbi Brown stick foundation in Golden (6) interchangeably. I’m thinking I might be Warm Tan for this range? But the color just looks so light in the photo and also the video. Or is it just the lighting? I think I have medium to dark skin as I tan easily. Thank you. Reply Sarah October 2, 2016 at 4:30 am Hi Nadya, ABH stick foundations are only available on the ABH website at this stage. I know it can be hard trying to determine a match through the pictures but in any case Warm Tan would definitely be too light for you. Going by the colors you’re currently using, you would be between ABH Caramel or Amber. You mentioned you tan easily so it depends if you’d rather go for Caramel and have the ability to bronze it up if need be, or Amber which will cater for you when you’re tanned. There’s no video for Amber yet but below is a tutorial for Caramel. They use highlight and contour which could get confusing so concentrate on how her neck color blends in with her face at the end. That will give you a better idea: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBBO6GYfloA Reply Nadya October 2, 2016 at 12:27 pm Thank you so much, Sarah. That is most definitely helpful. I think I’ll get both colors you mentioned and decide from there which one is better suited for my skin. Thank goodness I didn’t go ahead and order the Warm Tan. :) Reply Sarah October 3, 2016 at 7:04 am My pleasure Nadya. I think given the fact that you tan easily, it might be best to get both colors. You can always use them for highlight or contour purposes if one is too light/dark than what you need. Keep me posted :) Reply Nadya October 17, 2016 at 12:10 pm Hi Sarah, Just to report back. My order arrived and Caramel is the perfect match for my current skin tone. Amber is a bit darker but I think it will match my skin colour once I tan again. Thank you so much for the perfect shade advice. Sarah October 17, 2016 at 12:53 pm Hi Nadya! thank you so much for the update. Yeah I thought Caramel would be a good match but given the tanning factor, I think you made the right decision purchasing both. So happy to hear it all worked out for you; enjoy your new foundations! :) Rayhana Miab September 30, 2016 at 6:34 pm Hey sarah hope you are well. I wanted to know what shade would i need to go for. Im NC35-NC40 in mac and nars i wear stromboli and i also use giorgi armani in 6.0 which can be abit tan for me at times. Also i wanted to know i got dry skin and would it ve worth me buying this if its aimed for people with oily to combination skin? Reply Sarah October 1, 2016 at 1:15 am Hi Rayhana, you seem to have the same coloring as me. I also use NARS Stromboli so if that matches you perfectly, you would be Warm Natural in the ABH range. This color is closer to MAC NC30-35 spectrum. If you feel that’s too light, ABH Tan is closer to a MAC40 which is slightly darker. As for skin type; yes the ABH stick foundations are better for combination/oily skin tones, however you can still use them if you have dry skin. You just need to make sure to moisturize well or use a moisturizing primer underneath. There’s a nourishing oil on the ABH website which is being recommended to use with these sticks if you have dry skin so you can also consider that :) Reply Mel September 29, 2016 at 10:55 pm Hi :) I’m an nw10 in Mac studio fix what do you think the closest match would be with ABH. Also what colour do you recommend to contour with ? Thankyou kindly x Reply Sarah September 30, 2016 at 3:51 am Hi Mel, ABH just released 2 new colors which are the lightest in the range. Given your neutral undertone, your color in ABH would be Alabaster. It’s available on the ABH site now. With contour, you have two choices: You can either go couple of shades darker in the foundation range – something like Ivory would give you a fairly natural look. OR you can get the lightest color contour stick which is Shadow. This might be a bit dark but it is a cool undertone and you can always dilute it with your foundation color to adjust the shade. Contour sticks are the same formula as the foundation sticks so mixing them wouldn’t be a problem at all. Reply Aida September 29, 2016 at 5:14 pm Hi Sarah!! Thank you for your dedicated post and research it’s really enlightening to see your replies for everyone! I too, have a question. My shade in mac pro longwear would be nc30, GA luminous silk in 4.5 and 840 in covergirl 3 in 1. I think I lean more on a pink undertone. Wht color would you suggest? Thank you in advance!! Loves xx Reply Sarah September 29, 2016 at 6:01 pm Hi Aida! Thank you for your kind words :) The NC range of foundations in MAC typically carry a yellow undertone; however, the Prolongwear foundation tends to oxidize to a more neutral undertone. Your Covergirl foundation is also similar to this which is why you’re probably noticing a pinkish undertone. The Giorgio Armani is the only one which is slightly more yellow; so based on an average of all 3 and taking into account both the color and undertone, I would say ABH Natural would be the closest option. It’s a neutral undertone but carries a slight bit of warmth through it so it’ll provide a good color balance. I hope that all made sense. Please let me know if you have any questions :) Reply Aida September 30, 2016 at 11:23 pm Hello again Sarah! Thank you so much for your reply I really appreciate it! Ahh would that mean I am a neutral? Or yellow undertone? Thanks again loves xx Reply Sarah October 1, 2016 at 1:09 am Hi Aida, given the foundations you currently use, you would be a neutral undertone :) Reply Ash September 29, 2016 at 1:35 pm Hi Sarah, I’m the colour Barcelona in Nars Sheer Glow and 3W1 Tawny in Estee Lauder Double Wear. What color would you think matches that?! Thanks x Reply Sarah September 29, 2016 at 2:28 pm Hi Ash, based on the average of the two colors you mentioned, your closest ABH match would be Tan :) Reply Samii September 29, 2016 at 9:40 am Hi can anyone help me? When I’m not tanned, I wear Stromboli in NARS and when I am, I’m a 5.5 in Bobbi brown skin foundation. I just received tan by ABH and it’s way too orange on my skin tone :( I’m thinking warm tan would suit but in the colour wheel it says it’s a red undertone which throws me off. Any recommendations? Thanks! Reply Sarah September 29, 2016 at 11:47 am Hi Samii, I wear NARS Stromboli myself so the exact match in ABH is actually Warm Natural. It’s a yellow undertone so if you go up couple shades for when you have a tan, ABH Warm Tan would definitely give you a better match. Golden is another option, however it really depends on how dark you get. Let me know if there are any other brands that match you well when you have a tan so I can get a better understanding. Til then, here are video tutorials for both Warm Tan and Golden which might help you decide: Warm Tan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_boSTEOYO7E Golden: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eo4PZOirgYs Reply Samii September 29, 2016 at 12:45 pm Thank you! I’ll give them both a try! Reply Malvika September 28, 2016 at 6:36 pm Hi, I’m an NC44/45 in MAC and wear Cadiz in the Nars foundations – I’m thinking Amber would be a good colour match in the ABH but I just wanted to check? Thanks :) Reply Sarah September 29, 2016 at 4:05 am Hi Malvika, MAC NC44 is close to ABH Caramel; MAC NC45 is close to Amber. NARS Cadiz is definitely more along the lines of NC45 so taking the average of the colors, I would say Amber would be the best option. Hope that helps :) Reply Sabrina S. September 26, 2016 at 6:08 am Hi Sarah! If you don’t mind me asking, could you tell me which shade is the closest match to me? I am thinking Warm Ivory. I have tried Bourjois Healthy Mix 51 and it is a perfect match to my arm and periphery of my face. I have also tried L’oreal R2/C2 (Rose Vanilla), it’s pink but because of the redness on my cheeks, it almost matches; on other places however, it’s quite visible. Thank you. ? Reply Sarah September 26, 2016 at 6:33 am Hi Sabrina! Going by what you mentioned, I’m going to take the Bourjois Healthy Mix 51 as a guide for you. The fact that it’s a perfect match around the perimeter of your face means it blends well with your neck and doesn’t look like a mask. That color is yellow undertone and its closest match is ABH Porcelain which carries similar undertones. I wouldn’t recommend matching a foundation to the redness of your cheeks. When we add a pink undertone foundation to skin that already has redness, it makes the redness stand out more. That’s the reason why the Loreal Rose Vanilla would look more obvious on other parts of your face. Instead, a foundation with warm/yellow undertone (such as your Bourjois #51 and its equivalent ABH Porcelain) is better to counteract that redness so you get even skin tone all round. I hope this all makes sense, please let me know if you have any questions :) Reply Sabrina S. September 26, 2016 at 10:30 am Thank you for the prompt reply and explanations! Yes, L’oreal was my first foundation and being a noob I was (and still am ?), I matched it to my cheeks. I accidentally found your website and since then I have been reading your blog. It’s very helpful. Thank you for all your efforts. ? Reply Sarah September 26, 2016 at 12:40 pm Glad to be of help Sabrina :) Foundations are tricky to get right so it’s perfectly normal to have hits and misses. *Just as a fyi, your color is NC15 in MAC foundations (which are somewhat used as color guidelines when comparing with other brands). If at any stage you want to purchase other brand foundations online, just google what the MAC NC15 equivalent would be and that will give you a pretty good estimate of what color you should get. Welcome to the blog and thank you so much for your kind words!! :) Reply Olivia September 25, 2016 at 8:30 am I think I’ll be porcelain (I wear mont Blanc in nars sheer glow and have a more pink undertone) but what colour highlight and contour do you think would be best? I’m stuck! Reply Sarah September 25, 2016 at 9:34 am Hi Olivia, yes NARS Mont Blanc has a neutral undertone so in the ABH range you would actually be Warm Porcelain which carries neutral undertones (compared to the Porcelain which is more yellow/olive). As for highlight, usually I would recommend the Banana highlighter but that would look too yellow for your undertones which is why it’s better to utilise a lighter foundation color instead. Anastasia just launched 2 new foundation colors Alabaster and Warm Alabaster which are lighter than the Porcelain shades. Sticking to your undertones, Warm Alabaster would provide you with a good highlight without turning too yellow or white on you. In terms of contour, the color Cafe Latte is the lightest contour stick with cool undertones so it will give you the shading you need. Hope this helps you; please let me know if you have any other questions :) Reply Olivia September 25, 2016 at 9:44 am You’re amazing! Thanks so much for your help!! Reply Sarah September 25, 2016 at 9:50 am my pleasure Olivia, btw the contour color is called Shadow on the ABH website – *I have the description of it listed as Cafe Latte in my notes so I don’t want you to be confused :) Reply Cherelle L September 23, 2016 at 4:56 pm What is the closest match for NW47? I’m KVD lock it in shade 56, what do you think will suit my skin tone? Reply Sarah September 22, 2016 at 6:50 am Hi Nadia, are there any other brand foundations that match you well so I can get an average of your undertones. I’m fairly certain KVD 56 is a neutral undertone and having looked at the KVD color range, I’m thinking ABH Natural might be a good fit for you, but I just wanna make sure. Reply Bonnie September 22, 2016 at 4:18 am Hello! I’m a 1w2 sand in Estee lauder double wear foundation, what color do you think would match me best in ABH stick foundation?? :) thank you!! Reply Bonnie September 22, 2016 at 4:24 am I think I didn’t specify enough. But I meant Estée Lauder double wear stay in place foundation 1W2 sand :) thank you! Reply Sarah September 22, 2016 at 6:46 am Hi Bonnie, as far as I know, Estee Lauder Double Wear in 1W2 Sand is close to a MAC NC20. In the ABH range that would be Warm Ivory. Let me know if there are other brand foundations which match you well – including drugstore range and I can look into it further for you. Reply Leslie Quinn September 18, 2016 at 7:09 pm Wonderful article I’m a NW30 in MAC But a lot of brands say I’m yellow undertone and not neutral. Suggestions? Reply Sarah September 19, 2016 at 4:57 am Hi Leslie, your NW30 match in ABH is Natural. If you’re considering a more yellow/golden undertone, ABH Warm Natural would be the right shade – which is the color I wear myself. It’s not too far off from Natural in terms of color family but just the undertone difference. Let me know if you have any other questions :) Reply Simmi September 18, 2016 at 5:52 pm I normally wear the Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Foundation in the shade 5W1 Bronze. What would be my closest match for the ABH Foundation Stick? Based on pictures/youtube reviews, I feel like I might be Amber, but I’m not too sure. Thanks! Reply Sarah September 19, 2016 at 4:49 am Hi Simmi, I too would recommend Amber for you as you seem to be about a NC45 in the MAC range (which Amber is closest to). Let me know if you have any other questions :) Reply Simmi September 20, 2016 at 10:14 pm Hi Sarah, I ordered the shade Amber as soon as I saw your comment, and it just came today. It was a perfect match, thank you so much! Reply Sarah September 21, 2016 at 4:17 am Hi Simmi! That’s great news and thank you so much for the update. Enjoy your new foundation!! :) Reply Hafsa September 17, 2016 at 11:36 am hi sarah! I’m a 50 beige in Chanel Perfection Lumiere foundation, and about NC40 in mac (although its a bit orange), which shade do you think would match me? Reply Sarah September 17, 2016 at 5:14 pm Hi Hafsa, I’m not too familiar with the Perfection Lumiere range but going by MAC NC40, the closest color to it in the ABH range is Tan. However, with it being a bit orange on you, I would recommend going for a more golden undertone which is ABH Warm Tan. There might be a slight color variance, but the undertone would be more suitable. Here’s a link to the tutorial for ABH Warm Tan which might help you decide if it’s similar to your coloring: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_boSTEOYO7E Please let me know if you have any other questions :) Reply Katie H. Thanks in advance :) Reply Sarah September 16, 2016 at 12:14 pm Hi Katie, ABH Warm Porcelain is a close match to NW15 :) Reply Tiara Fisher September 15, 2016 at 8:58 am Hi Sarah, Such a great article! Like most of the commenters here, my local Sephora does not stock ABH, thus the need to order it online. Can you assist me in finding the right skin and highlight shade? I’m a Tan with Becca Aqua luminous foundation and a Tahoe with Nars Sheers Glow foundation. Thank you! Reply Sarah September 15, 2016 at 1:57 pm Hi Tiara, the stores are slowly starting to get the displays in but there’s not a definite date on when the stock will be available. I’ll continue to update as I get more information. Going by the colors you’ve given me, your undertone is similar to a MAC NC44 which is closest to Caramel in the ABH range. As for highlight, I’m including the video tutorial below for Caramel color where they used both the Banana highlighter (now available in the stick form) as well as Cool Beige. Either would be complimentary with the Caramel foundation. Banana highlight is more yellow meaning it would look slightly brighter so it depends how light you want your highlighter to be. There’s also a contour color in there so I hope all this information helps you decide. Please let me know how it turns out :) ABH Caramel video tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBBO6GYfloA Reply Tiara Fisher September 16, 2016 at 7:46 am Hi Sarah, Thank you so much for your reply. Your recommendation is very helpful. I somehow forgot to mention that I live in Singapore, thus, the brands that Sephora Singapore carries are very limited. Cheers. Now, off to watch the video. Reply Sarah September 16, 2016 at 12:18 pm My pleasure Tiara! I know ABH is working towards making their products more accessible so they just might appear in your local Sephora stores soon. Enjoy your new products :) Reply Savannah September 15, 2016 at 2:58 am Hey ladies I’m an nc20 in Mac, what’s the best shade ? Reply Sarah September 15, 2016 at 4:10 am Hi Savannah, Warm Ivory is a close match to NC20 in MAC :) Reply Savannah September 15, 2016 at 4:12 am Oh no I literally just ordered beige ! Do you think it will work ? Reply Sarah September 15, 2016 at 4:48 am It’s an undertone difference between the two. Beige is within a warm/neutral category meaning if you’re closer to the true warm/yellow spectrum as NC20 usually is, Beige might be a little on the pink side against your coloring. If you’re not able to change your order, I think you can make the Beige work – might need to add some bronzer or mix with a deeper yellow foundation to adjust the undertone. Please let me know how it turns out ;) **There’s no video available for Warm Ivory yet, but here’s a video tutorial for Beige: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nSBtOs4W44 Reply Kate October 7, 2016 at 11:43 am When can we expect warm ivory video on youtube? Please help Reply Sarah September 12, 2016 at 4:09 am Hi Uksa, ABH Natural is similar to Mac NW30 which is a more neutral undertone; and ABH Honey is similar to NW35 which is slightly warmer undertone. As far as I know, these two are the closest to the MAC colors. Keep in mind, they will never be exact matches. Just FYI: I know Kevyn Aucoin SX09 has quite a pink undertone; ABH ones won’t be as pink as that. Hope this helps ;) Reply Kim September 10, 2016 at 2:35 pm Hey guys I ordered Amber but it’s quite dark I am a mac 42 / 44 what would you recommend please help Reply Sarah September 11, 2016 at 3:56 am Hi Kim, yes Amber would be quite dark for you. Warm Tan is about a MAC NC42 and Caramel is about a NC44 (more in the medium to dark category). One shade lighter than that which carries similar undertones is Golden. Unfortunately there’s no video available for Tan color at this stage, but here’s one for Golden which might help you decide between the two: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eo4PZOirgYs Reply Nina November 24, 2016 at 7:42 pm Um glad i found this prior to blk friday…☺☺ Reply Dee September 6, 2016 at 2:42 pm Hi, I wish I could get colour matched but my Sephora don’t have ABH :( I’m limited to online shopping but I’m not sure what shade I am. How would you suggest I proceed? :) Reply Sarah September 6, 2016 at 6:10 pm Hi Dee, I know it’s a hit and miss buying foundation online but I just did some research for you and the Healthy Mix foundation in 52 is similar to MAC NC20. In the ABH range this is Warm Ivory. Please keep in mind none of the colors will be exact matches but this might be a starting point. If you have more of a yellow undertone (closer to NC30), go with the Warm Natural. If you have a neutral undertone (not too yellow or not too pink), go with Cool Beige. Reply Sarah August 19, 2016 at 7:05 am Hi Sam, I’m definitely a Warm Natural so if you have yellow/olive undertones too, that would also be your shade :) Reply Sam August 19, 2016 at 7:09 am Thank you so much!!! You’re amazing! Reply Kate H. August 18, 2016 at 6:27 pm Oh wow the models look gorgeous! I have no idea what color I would be. I think I’ll wait and get it at Sephora so they can color match me. I don’t even know my tone or anything. How bad is that!? lol Reply Sarah August 19, 2016 at 7:04 am Hi Kate, it’s perfectly normal to not know such details. Choosing foundation colors is a complex process, especially that some formulas can oxidize (change color when they blend with the oils on the skin). These foundations will hit the stores very soon and they’re permanent so I’m sure you’ll find your perfect match :) Reply Bianca Miller August 18, 2016 at 5:53 pm I literally read this in a heartbeat and can’t thank you enough for the details. You always go that extra mile with your posts. I think I’d be Beige. I’m definitely neutral but warm colors look better on me. Excited to try these! Thanks Sarah.
