Hi Beauties! I trust you’re all doing well!
I know I haven’t been very active on the site for some time now; so lets have a chat…
I’ve learnt through the years that letting go of things that you know in your heart have served their purpose, is key to opening new doors and allowing new experiences and ventures in.
By the time I started my website Beauty Point Of View, I’d been a pro makeup artist for well over a decade. Whilst I enjoyed the practical part of the business, it was education, information, products, colors, textures and sharing all this with a community of like-minded individuals that motivated me the most. And my site has been an incredible outlet for many years where I was able to do that.
However, over the last couple of years, I’ve slowly lost that spark and motivation.
For better sense of the word, I both love and truly hate what social media has done to the beauty/makeup industry; and the process of unique and individual creativity. The constant churning of products with their 15mins of fame, politics of algorithms, mindless trends for clicks, cookie-cutter posts & reels which were so far from my personal style and intention made me refrain further and further from putting out my content.
That said, I’m proud of what I’ve created to date. From teaching myself how to code and design a website from scratch, to photography, graphic design, editorial and marketing, I attended to every fine detail myself. I built a library of information that most sites lacked, which is what set it apart from most other beauty platforms. And I unashamedly acknowledge that achievement.
I’m grateful to all the brands and stores that saw the potential of my site and joined in; specifically Sephora US. I admire the courage of the brands that took a risk in being featured on my site, knowing I would tell it like it is!
The time has come to say farewell to my site but I have no reservations. My heart will forever be full, as I always approached things from a Beauty Point Of View. It’s time and I feel good about it.
If there’s anything specific that you’d like to copy and keep from my site, now is the time to go grab it. The site will be up until Dec 19.
I’ll continue to share my favorite products and unfiltered opinions on my Instagram stories; and be available for any beauty related questions as per usual.
On that note, THANK YOU for being a crucial part of my journey with Beauty Point Of View.
I cherish every interaction, every like, comment, feedback and the authentic community we built together.
With Love, Sarah 🤎
