4 Easy Eye Makeup Looks Using Bright Colors

by Sarah

Hello my beauties! As I’ve been rolling out posts about latest makeup trends with bright eyeshadow colors and Radiant Orchid being the color of the year,ย some of you have asked how you can use such colors in your makeup routine, specifically eye makeup.

I know bright colors can be daunting but there are many easy and practical ways to incorporate them into your eye makeup. Furthermore, you don’t even need to invest in an expensive palette. The four looks I did below can be achieved by using powder eyeshadows, cream shadows or even chubby sticks but I opted for a simple long-lasting eye pencil. In fact, this eye pencil by Essence (which is a drugstore brand) is only $2! It has great color payoff, the application is smooth and it really is long lasting.

Apart from the Essence eyeliner in #17 Tu-Tu-Touquoise, I used concealer to prep the eyelids, dark brown matte eyeshadow, black Urban Decay eyeliner in Zero and black Lancome Hypnose Drama mascara (review HERE)

Bright Eye Look

I did quick and practical looks, to show you even simple applications can be quite effective. You can pair them up with different color eyeshadows in the crease or lids, shimmer or glitters and of course false lashes.ย

1. TOP LINER: One of theย easiest ways to add a bright color to your eye makeup is to do a simple line along the top lashes. You can do a flick at the end and even do a thinner black line closer to the lashes for a dramatic double line. Couple of coats of mascara will finish thisย subtle yet effective look.

2. BOTTOM LINER:ย You can most certainly do a top and bottom liner if you want an intense bright eye look, however for this version, I lined the top lashline with a matte dark brown eyeshadow, smudging it into the lashes for a softer worn-in look. I then lined the bottom lashline, as well as the waterline with the Essence pencil. 2 coats of black mascara completed this look.

3. INNER V:ย Yet another simpleย trick! Applying the bright color in the inner V of the eyes will not only brighten the eyes, it will make them look like they’re adorned with jewels. It makes for a perfect ‘accessory’ without going too over the top. I lined the top and bottom lashlines with the matte dark brown eyeshadow; applied Urban Decay Zero in my waterline and of course the Essence eyeliner in the inner V of my eyes. The pencil I used also has small glitters scattered through which adds to the vibrancy.

4. INNER HALF OF THE EYELID:ย This is the most dramatic of all the looks and makes for a perfect night time makeup. I applied the matte dark brown eyeshadow on the outer half of my eyelid, also liningย the outer half of the bottom lashline too. I then filled in the inner half of my eyelids with the Essence eyeliner, blending the color with my fingers and re-applying until I reached the intensity I wanted. I also lined the inner corner of my eyes with this pencil, smudging the color along the bottom lashline to meet with the brown shadow. I lined my waterline with Urban Decay Zero pencil and applied 2 coats of mascara.

These looks are a great starting point if you’re new to using bright colors. You can make them as subtle or dramatic as you like, use any color you wish from neon yellows and oranges to hot pinks, radiant orchid, greens, purples or blues.ย They can go as far as your imagination so don’t be afraid to play and experiment to see what works for you ;)

What do you guys think of these makeup looks?ย

**If you try any of them, please post them to my Facebook page or tag me on Instagram or Twitter; I’d love to see them ;)
